1985 200x tranny problem

ok i have a 1985 200x i put a xr200 transmission it it and when i got the tranny the gear the kickstarter engages was missing some teeth so i replaced it and got it going after about a month the gear i replaced broke again so does this mean that the kickstarter gear needs to be replaced also or what could be causing this to happen im getting tired splitting the cases

sounds like you need to check how the gears are contacting each other. you might need to add or remove some shims or you could have a weak spring.

id say the gears arnt matching properly and theres too much backlash

Did you use the XR kicker gears? If you did, they have smaller teeth as the XR had an automatic decompressor. The ATC gears are larger and stronger as there was no decompressor.
You can use the ATC kicker gears with the XR 6 speed gearbox.
