What's the big deal with the douglas wheels?
My 85r I just got has them on it and I have to admit I like the stockers better.
Are they lighter or stonger or do people just like the silver rather than gold?

Stock are steel, Douglas are aluminum. That's it really I believe lol

Some trikes came with steel rims, most sport trikes did come with aluminum rims though.

The douglas rims are lighter, a little weaker because of it but they are lighter. I like the strong stock rims on my summer tires but I run light thin rims on my winter tires (which see less jumps and rocks).

Ahh ok. My 84 250r had steelies on it, that's why I went with the Douglas. Honestly I just like the look more... that was the main factor in my purchase!

#1 reason to use an aftermarket wheel.......wider offsets

The wider offset idea seems most logical to me!

83 and 84 models came stock with aluminum - yours must have been not stock when you got it

I put Douglas rims on the back of my SX because the stock ones wouldn't hold air, and I don't think I was able to find steel ones that would fit. Can't remember for sure. Now if I could only find a front one to mach!
