Hey all,

Well I recently had the 4 bolts on the rear sprocket of my '86 R shear off. After replacing them I decided to double check for straightness. Well, this doesn't look so good to me and I personally would label it as "un-rideable".

If you've seen this or riden like this before, drop a reply and let me know what you think. I'm about taped out on the 3wheeler budget for a while and man I don't want to have to tear out the axle to replace the sprocket hub.

Be sure to click on "high quality" to get a better view. I wasn't able to embed it in this forum for some reason.

That is kind of ugly. I would be more worried about the chain coming up and hitting the cases. Post in the classifieds on here about a used sprocket hub. I'm sure someone has something they could fix you up with cheaply. I'm not sure how east those 250R chain sprocket hubs come off the axle though. You might need a friend with a hydraulic press.

Is that popping noise the engine or the chain? Either way, don't ride it!

The popping noise is the standard 2-stroke low RPM condition.

Going to measure it again and see if it's just the sprocket or if the hub is bent too. My understanding is that the hub really isn't replaceable on the stock axle.

Thanks for the replies!
