hi, a friend of mine has 1981 tri moto he is in need of an airbox assembly for it, there is one for an 85, will it work? thanks

No it will not because they decided to run a snorkel that passes through the 82-85 frame. They did not do that on the 80-81 frame. If you look at the picture of this airbox you can see the part that goes through the frame.

it looks like it has a space under the seat for a flat hose, i have no proof its an 81 thats just what the previous owner said the first owner has a video of it, just to give you a picture of what year it is http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk1qLlagBfQ the guy claimed it did have a hose for a snorkel before

heres one that thats for sale, he says its one for an 85 but it doesnt look like the one in the picture you posted. will this fit an 81?

yes that will fit the 80-81 frame. I am having trouble posting pictures right now

What does the decal on the side of the rear fender look like? If it is like the one in the video thats an 82-85. but that does not mean someone didn't replace the rear fender on your buddys.

yeah thats the decal for 82-85. I really wish I could get pictures to post right now.

yes if the trike is a 80-81 frame. Hey, nickvo are you the friend of daniel 250r that needs the airbox.

Can you get pictures of the frame where the airbox is supposed to be. because I can tell you which one you need.

yeah daniel250r and i are buddies. daniel bought the trimoto and sold it our friend. now he needs the airbox. we are both going to his place on monday to work on it. we will take pictures then and post it here. thanks for all the help so far!

It probably needs the airbox and air cleaner to run right. By the way I suck at typing I am very very slow.

we found out the 85 air box will work just fine thanks for the help both of you, and we dropped the needle to spots and got it to actually move its self and have some power, although it doesnt have any bottem end from the compression being low

jet needle/clip position- 4E16/3. this is what the haynes says for clip position and set the air screw to 1 1/2 turns out from closed
