i went riding at our local sand pit and there were a couple guys riding dirt bikes. one was a new crf450r and the other was a built yzf450. race the crf about 4 times and got him good. the yzf and i were neck and neck everytime till i ran out of gears. just got my tecte running hard, had to put a 330 main and put the needle clip on the very bottem no more detonation, still have a head gasket issue but she pulls like crazy. also race my buddy air r and killed it. all these guys i'm racing wieght around 140-150lbs and i'm 240. so i think this tecate has gotta make some good power...

i would like to see some more video clips of this thing when you get a chance.. glad to hear you got it running good.. were the bikes having traction issues?

Videos would be good, but yeah were the bikes spinning alot? Because the 450 bikes are HARD to beat with trikes or quads.

i'm near tacoma. hit me up with an im we usually go every weekend. the guy on the honmda would start in first gear and i would kill him off the line the yamaha was using second and he was right with me maybe a tire length ahead when i topped out fifth. i will get some vid's soon.. all my friends are scared of my tecate, they ride 250r's and 200x's. anyways i'm very happy with how this tecate turned out. it must be a fuel hog if it needs that big of yet, i also think the compression is really high. i used the head off my old tecate race motor, that thing was as fast as this if not faster with bad rings and the plating peeling of the cyl. walls i only needed a 250 main jet and 40 pilot on that motor.

i wouldn't set your bikes up for strictly sand to go riding here, a pair of holeshots and your good.

The tires on it right now are flat track. I have the stockers and some sand paddles. Also have mud tires.

i would run some stockers, maybe bring the paddles with.

I believe it!! Dem TECATE'S are fast as hell!!
Funny to hear a real story!, versus these "My Blaster goes 95mph"
Fabiodrivens, is just an 84 (I think) and it boots REAL NICE!! I guess KAWI just did a little bit more in port timing and smoothness - it doesn't take much for a true engine builder or engineer to get it done :D
Glad to hear you spanked em :wOOt:

i'm no true motorcycle engine builder, but i can build a watercooled vw motor to the max. had a 1.8 liter 8v making almost 200 horse n/a and over 300 on the bottle. but anyways my first experament build on this tecate turned out good, hopefully i can get the head to seal. just polished the outside of the head and i looks real nice against the grabber green cyl.

Nothing against you 2quick, but I'm not sure there is such a thing as a slow Tecate!

i know, but my 100 dollar ebay motor wasn't near as fast. it had a 1.5 mm oversided piston and no port work. i'm on std. bore with mild port work and kx jug, advanced timing and alot of compression and she scoots. i still can't believe it took a 330 jet to get a good plug reading. my first built tecate motor ran about this strong with a 250 main jet, i don't think the power band on the motor was as broad as this one. it hit hard at the bottem and fell off quick, my new motor hits really hard on the bottem and pulls through hard at the top rpm's

330 is fricken massive. I run a 260 in the summer but right now it's got a 280.

she runs great on the 330, my carb has been bored too so i might need that to match the air its getting. i probably put a good 3 hours on it yesterday with the 330 in and did a few plug checks and she looked good grayish brown, when i had the 260 jet she was pinging and the plug was light grey almost white.

it was a last minute thing. i didn't think i was going. and we didn't get there till 3 so it was a short trip. i will make sure to call next time. my damn head gasket is leaking again. what can i do. i had everything resurfaced, cometic gasket torqued correctly then retorqued after warm up, it's driving me nuts. maybe i need copper.

the head gasket? your head or cylinder must be warped. Find someone with a flat piece of glass and lay it on
Im going to tahuya tomorrow, wanna go?

nothings warped, just to much compression maybe i'll have the jug resurfaced again. it's a sleeved jug and the sleeve sits a lil lower than the gasket mating surfaces

Thats your problem.
Cool kill stories. Those high strung ugly green things are fast! :)

thats what i'm hoping. i bought it from a guy off of here and he didn't have problems though. it had a oem head gasket, i've tried vesrah and cometic. the cometic sealed for a few hours... vesrah leaked off the get go.

I never lost coolant and cylinder bore looked fine. I never removed the head. That's the way the cylinder was when I got it.

i wish i would of left the kx head on there now.... it seemed to have an oem gasket too, very large sealing ring. i'll eventually get her to seal and it smoked a shee blowing steam out the overflow like a locomotive
