thought i'd post a couple pics of the 110 ice racer im building for my 9 yr old daughter. i know, i know, its a 110 but she is 9 and i dont think she's ready for anyhting bigger. today i mounted the 185s front end, cut the rear fenders, mounted the 16x7.50-8 rear tires on itp rims. also used a supertrap header and an old rm 125 silencer for an exhaust. ditched the chain cover crap and installed new rear brakes. im off to a friends house to use his garage and service the engine, stud the tires, and give er 1 last check over. this beast will be at pennsyltucky with me along with some trail tires for it. enjoy!!

What kind of father would let their child ride a 3 wheeled death-trap, let alone race one with "meat-grinders" on it?! LOL Have you put a proper kill switch on it yet? I would think about that in case of a roll over or a quick dismount. That is the kind of thing that kill switches are for. I think I have a roll over mercury switch around here in a box of parts, but a proper kill switch would be better. And make sure you show her how it works, when you pop it out it kills the engine. Something to think about anyway. And for the header, I'm glad you put it to use. I have a couple pipes here. What ever you want to work out is good for me. Let me know when you want that other frame or frames and one of those cl90 or sl90 engines with the big bore stroker kit! LOL Quit messing around, you know you want to come down and load the truck up with parts and trikes! LOL

your right, i do want a truck load of old school goodies. my wife does not though! not until i use the truck load that is here now. im calling Lori at the local dealership on monday morning and tellin her" i need a tether switch on the double, no excuses". im sure she'll come through, after all, she did sell me 1000 original gold ice screws for a mere $13.00.:w00t: :w00t:

Yeah, anyone running the ice should have a kill switch just in case of turn over. They are a good safety feature and those kold kutters can be nasty. You guys should make sure every one is running kill switches and you can run them in conjuction with the regular on/off switch too. Did you snag up that other frame off ebay? That would be real nice for your daughters trike. You need to get that old nicholson I have and that solid front end together for a real lightweigh old school racer. Than get the cl90 together with the big bore and stroke kit. That would be the ticket. Sometimes those suspension front ends can be tricky. And for basement racing, the solid front end would be better and way sturdier. And your wife would understand you getting a bunch of stuff from me. Who provided all the goodies for her suspension
185s? And if your getting the spigot opened up for one set of cases, you or I might as well get the spigot cut for the second set of cases! If you have a couple of decent 90 heads, save them. We'll need some heads to send out and get tricked out.

Now that 110 looks nice, I bet I looked at is 5 times and did not notice the 185 forks as an add on. The forks look like they were made for it. I plan on doing the same with a US90, the 185 fork add on, did you have to trim the front fender to allow the wheel to fit? It looks like you are using a skinny taller tire but it maybe just the tiny wheels on the rear. Post more pictures along with some in action.

the front tire is a 20x9-8. its getting changed today for a brand new one of the same size. the 185 front end went right on but i had to remove the old steering stop. i havnt built a new 1 yet, i need to get a better look. the front fender is a trimmed 200x fender. i cut about an inch off the front and about four off the rear. the 200x fender is NOT a direct fit and has to have mounts made.

mad, that is your 110! looks pretty cool now. my daughter liked it but it was hard to steer with the big front tire. plus, it wasnt exactly cool looking for a 9yr old. she's diggin it now though!
can someone please help with stud placement? im not sure how to go about it.

Stud placement, depending who you ask, is a science:crazy: ....and i can not answer that part for you. However in your case i would just stud the whole tire and make sure all the screws heads are facing in the same direction to improve tire clean off.

thanks userj. do you think i should place the studs in the rear tires in a V shaped pattern or should i run them straight accross?

I would add some spacers to the rear, but over all it looks awesome!

i have some 1 in thick aluminium that i thought about using as spacers. i got a week to go yet but may have the opportunity to get her on ice today! i reaqlly want her to have a couple practice laps but i need to figure out how to posotion these studs.

Again bro i am not the one to answer that. I was going to suggest the whole tire. If your turning to the left then also maybe the inside of the left tire and outside of the right. The person you really need to ask about all this is ChrisD. Tkae a look over his website, i know it touches on studding (http://home.comcast.net/~atc330rrider/atc330r1.html). Wheel spacers, as mentioned by syko would also help the stability of the trike. Overall though its a nice looking trike! Whats the top speeds of these 110's?

thanks for the help userj. just trying to get some opinions on the placement. i cant seem to get the link to work. im guessing the top speed is around 35 or 40. should be able to hold its own against the newer chinese 110 and 90 quads.

Eric, If you use spacers, place them to the outside of the bike away from the turn. It will help keep the trike from wanting to tip that way so much.
As for studding, I would just start off with every other row of studs and see how it does. I mean, this is your daughter not Mickey Dunlap. I don't really think that proper placement of studs is going to affect things one way or another, not saying anything bad about your daughter, but you are talking just a kid. And if that doesn't seem like enough studs to you, then stud every row on the outside tire and every other row on the inside tire.
The main thing is to have fun and be safe.

If you think about it, if you keep turning left then all your weight gets thrown to the right. If you space your wheel out farther to the right, then it should help compensate some. And also I would think you would want more traction on the right hand side, but I could be wrong about that. You will just have to experiment what feels good to your daughter. Heck if she doesn't like how the trike feels, you could switch the studded tires around and put the more studded tire on the left. Maybe you should give the trike a ride befroe she does it and see how it feels to you. And expect that she won't be hanging of the left side of the trike alot too since she is just starting out. You said you have a couple days, you should be ouit experimenting. Try every other row on both tires first and take it for a ride and see what the 110 does. The testing is the hardest but probably most important part.

Hey bud...as for the link....copy and paste it but remove the ")" at the end...thats whats causing the problem.

I for one would start out with minimal screws. This isn't a 250R. It does not have monster truck power. The R has trouble breaking loose 20 inch tires with screws in the corners...Hence why most of us run 18" tires. I would start out with a few screws here and there in them lawn mower tires. Work you way up from there. The one ten should scream pretty good with a kid on it of that age and size...

good luck!

Eric, Too bad I'm not closer or I'd let you put those studded tires on my bandito framed 110. I'm sure it would be way more stable than a stocker.

well, i have a bandito here but i just didnt have enough time to get everything sorted. she's still pretty intimidated by the stock 110 so we'll she how this first race goes. if she likes it i may end up setting her up with the bandito and the PCCC front end.

here's some pics from the day. man was it cold. my poor kids were freezing so we had to cut it short. my gaughter ended up taking 4th in her heat, not bad for her first time. i was surprised that the event had only 2 trikes running. these things really turned heads and i think we put on a good show for the little running we did.

run this video up to about 1 min or so. whole lotta nuthin going on until then. my 9 yr old filmed this and it was her first time at that too. i gotta give her credit though, she stayed for the whole race even though her left hand had started to go numb.
