First off..
I have one of those custom 10 inch front rims and i need a tire to stud for the ice...any recommendations?
Second off, i was given a set of 6 inch PIAA lights for my 250r baja light bar.
I pulled the bulbs out and they are 55watts. I have read that the stock stator for the r puts out 70 watts.
I can buy new h3 bulbs for now, but i would like to use the higher wattage if possible.
Can i run them as is and they wont be as bright? I know nothing about wattage and ac/dc all that jazz...
Whats my best option? Get the stator rewound to 110 watts?
Mike
You could try to find a lower wattage bulb with the same lightbulb mount...or you will have to buy a ricky stator....or if you know somebody who can rewind it for you.

I think you can either rewind or buy an upgraded stator from rickey stator to run 2 100 watt bulbs. I think that stocker will handle two 35's. I'm still trying to figure out what's h3 and HID???
I would think any front tire with deep stiff knobbies would do the trick.(perhaps a radial tire would work best) not exactly sure what availible in 10 inch tho.

Stock 250r stator puts out a lot more the 70W. Its 159W at 5000RPM according to the Honda Service Manual. Im running a 100W bulb in mine right now with no problems.

It is indeed 159 watts at 5000 rpm...ill try what ive got and see how it goes...
if not ill grab one from RS for 150 unless its that much cheaper to rewind them

How hard is it to rewind them?? Fuk, your just building up a certain amount of resistance of a coil with a certain size wire thats coated so it doesn't short out......
I can't see how it could be THAT difficult.....
Remember electricity from high school?? And the electromagnet shop made us build??
IDK, but I'd be willing to try it myself.........:D

My brother has successfully done this before. I guess if you've got a spare coil lying around, why not?

I never said I was MOTOPLAT
But honestly, I deal with E=IxR and VxA=Watts and it's all specific formulas....
The more you coil something up, the more resistance there is. The less is just the opposite.
Hell, if no one knows this - All electric heaters are is a specific coil of a certain thickness wire with a given voltage. That gives you the wattage output; And a fan blows across it to deliver the heat and kep the coils from overheating.
There really isn't a ton to it.................
I bet between ALL of us, we could get it DOWN!!

^ or you can fry your entire electricial system. it's not as easy as it looks. i sued to wind my own rc motors and it was not easy. half the itme i had to redo it because if 1 peice got out of spec, it ruined the flow.

For years I thought a machinist was a genius....
And air conditioning and refrigeration were something I'd never understand.
And electricity scared the hell out of me......
And I wished I could weld, or use cutting torches.....
And I wondered how to split cases, and jetting terrified me too....
All of the above were conquered, and I ALWAYS look forward to the next challenge. ESPECIALLY if DEEPA's stuff is the TEST MODEL
I'm not a scientist, not Einstein - but in all my years I've almost never paid anyone for anything, I've learned how to do it myself..... From fixing my boiler, to rebuilding a diesel engine and rewiring my electrical panel; all things I didn't know SCHIT about just a few years back......
I'd go broke deciding that an "expert" knew more than I did. So, I'll never give up on a challenge, until my tired old hands can't do it anymore
Bsck on track now:
Hey Mike, find us a friggin tire will ya!!

how about a razer2 they are 22x7x10 nice tire that will hold studs. eddie is using a 21x7x10 holeshot. both of these type of tires are skinny and on a straight away you realy only ride on the center nobby. i know the razer2 will hold 6 in each nobby....dont over stud the tires and find it just goes straight. i would stud them a bit and finish them on the track to what ever you find it needs.

Ya, I'm worried I'monna be pulling some studs from my rears (not rear) when we get up there...

I wish the threads on these studs were about 5/8 or .625 long. That way they didn't go "thru" the tire and if the ripped out, you wouldn't have a possible leak.
Mike got me a 10" rim also, but honestly, I thought the Kenda Max on the 11's was a decent choice - no?? I mean, the friggen lugs are 2" long parallel to the way it runs and you can probably get 10 screws in it
Is there any reason you guys don't like those for the ice??
Regardless, I gotz allotz of screwing to do this weekend and this time it doesn't involve "DA NEIGHBAH!!" :D
