They changed like a million small things, like numbers of teeth on certain gears, to all kinds of settings and adjustments. I'm rebuilding an 83, and have no idea as to what parts i'm getting when I order off of ebay . Is it that big of a deal? Anyone rebuild a 200x and find out this problem?

no more like Honda's continuing effort to improve or addres problem area's. Honda's attention to detail is second to none they will change the littlest thing continually improve ther machines. plus remember the 83 was first year model some things needed to be refined for 84/85. the 85/86 350X have over 45 differances both big and minute

The only differences I know=

1. Main Jet in 83 carb=110, 84-85=108
2. Needle jet-clip setting in 83= middle groove, 84-85=Fourth groove
3. There is some minor difference in the swingarm-rear shock area. I am not sure what it is.

I have both a 83 and a 84 200x. the swingarm is completly different. 83 is made out of round tube, 84 is square. The kicker is different, the 83 has a flat paddle for your foot, where the 84 has a round pin

Yeah, I noticed the swingarm diffrance. In 83, they had a rounded like edge on the swingarm, and on the 84 & 85 they had a square edge. I have a 83 parts bike, and a 85 running bike, thats where I noticed it.

which one do u think is better? probably the squared one. i'm considering making a custom extended swing arm, do u think it would be easier to make one out of the squared or rounded? I know someone on here made one, abut he has yet to reply to my PM.

by far the squared one would be easier to extend.

They went to the square swing according to my mags because of the 83 being weak. I can't see this since I've got a 83 type swing on my 85 200x, and I've jumped it and ridden it pretty hard, and haven't tweaked it any yet. The stock axle is another matter LOL. I do know that the 83 200x had some serious kickier gear breakage at first.
