I have a 81 honda 250r. I bought a new flywheel rotor for it. When i was putting it in i noticed the timing index marker was off so i adjusted it so it was line up. I finished putting it back to gether. then i kicked it and kicked it and kicked it for ever. Nothing at all. So i check to see if it is getting gas and it did. Next i checked the compression and that was fine. Then i checked the spark and that was fine. Checked the spark plug and that to was fine. So i adjusted the timing index a little bit where it was supposed to be. I kicked it a couple time and it fired but died right away. So i moved the timing thing a littile bit more and then i kicked it and again nothing. Can the timing be messed up somewhere else? It should be in time when the index marks are lined up...right?

its a 2 stroke, you will only be advancing or retarding it slightly, you got gas, you got spark you may need to rule out some other problems, try a new plug first NGKB8ES .

Was it running fine before? check to make sure the fly wheel pickups are clean its possible they may be to far away from the fly wheel

lastly welcome to the boards!

:welcome: When you put the flywheel on did you get the woodruff key in it ? If it is missing or sheared off your timing will be off. That is what holds the flywheel in the correct position.
