I'm trying to get parts for my 200, but a lot of people are telling me it's a lot of different things over the year and model ( s, es, m)

The Plate on the neck says 'Honda 1981 200.

The numbers on the neck are:

TB0500BC018595

The confusion comes from the trike having front suspension on the forks, and split rear fenders with tool box. My manual and my local parts shop says these features were not on the 81 200, and that the fenders and fork may be off of an 83 200s.

I'll try to post pictures tomorrow. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks.

Sounds like an ATC200 to me, there are no letters on the end (E, S, M etc) and it sounds like someone swapped the fork.

That's not a proper VIN, my program does not recognize it, or you are missing a digit. All VIN's have 17 digits. Look and post it again, I can run it and tell you what it's from! ;)

Post a photo, especially the gas tank. With a photo, probably 99% of us here can tell you what it is.

the 81 and 82 "straight" 200 did not have front suspension. in 83 the 200s and 185s had front shocks. i don't think the straight 200 did. i am not sure if they made a straight 200 in 83 as i think they went to a letter like a 200e, 200s, 200m and 200es and finally the 200x. (could be wrong, but i wasn't sure i saw any listing for a straight 200 in 83)

if you have front shocks, it's very possible as stated someone swapped the front forks out with a 83+ 200s frame. they woudl bolt right on w/o any mods.

Sounds like an 83 ATC200. If it has split rear fenders and toolbox, front suspension, and a square headlight its an 83 200.

81 atc200 did have split fenders and toolbox, but no front suspension.

here are pics of 2 of mine, the one without a motor is an 81 atc200 the one with motor is an 83 atc200, the 83 has front suspension. overlook the seat, it was the previous owner homemade seat - LOL... i bought everything i need to rebuild the engine, i've received everything, but the valves - still waiting on those, then i can do the engine rebuild!

I doubt anyone went out and bought an ID tag that says 1981 ATC200 and put it on an 83. If the stick says it's an 81 chances are that is what it is but with a fork swap. I have a 1982 ATC200 with front suspension- I put it there.

The vin number is correct. Or atleast what the frame has on it is correct.

I have one of the first 100 so atc200 and it is missing the JH3 on the vin aswell, was never stamped. I would imagine it has something to do with the transition from a serial number to an actual vin number like a motorcycle.

Try using JH3TB0500BC018595 when crossreferencing.

try this for decoding (http://www.pronto-net.com/vin_app/vin.php)

What parts do you need? A lot of parts are the same as other models.

McDerry, that's a good site, wasn't aware they had those on the net yet, mine is a program from work...here's what mine says.

OK, adding the JH3 gives me the following info...

J = Japan
H3 = Honda
TB050 is for the model BUT = DIGIT UNDEFINED
0 = Check Digit meaining = Calculated as - 7
B is the year = 1981
C is the assembly plant = Saitama, Japan
018595 is the sequence number = undetermined range.

So something is wrong with the Model designator but the year has been determined :D

Hope that helps

I'm still having trouble posting pics, but all this information is a great help.

If it's an 81 200, then the fork was swapped. At the moment i have a gas tank to a 185s that fits nicely.

I'm still unsure about the rear fenders, i think they're from a different ATC, as my manual says the 81 200 didn't have the tool box.

Any more input would be great. Also, I'm being optimistic and looking for rear fenders or brackets, seat, and a better gas tank than what i have. Any offers or prices would be great.

Again, thanks for the help.

The 1981 ATC200 had both a "toolbox" and a "trunk". The toolbox was under the seat and the trunk is between the 2 back fenders.

Will a gasket fit for an 83 200s fit my 81 200?

it should, as far as top ends go, they should be the same.
