I paid $150 for. I don't really know what they go for, but it seems to be in good shape by the pics. It has some small pits in the dome. When it gets here I'll tell you if I'm pissed or not. Thought about sandblasting it and getting it polished.

I saw that. I would have liked to have it but I have other projects I need to button up first.

Ive got one on my drag bike and love how it stands out...

I think the DG head has got to be the coolest bolt on piece for the air cooled R out there.. They just give it that look that realy stands out.. Id keep it gold if I where you, that big gold head is what stands out.. Being polished would stand out and look cool but it would loose its vintage look.. I think they are anodized and im not sure if sand blasting would remove it all? I know board members have used oven cleaner on the anodized gold rims and it worked....

As far as price goes its like anything else, all depends if the owner nows what he has and lists it right.. Few years back I bought one off ebay listed as unknown head? But had some good pics of it to identify it.. Won it for the opening bid of 19.99,, or $29.99 cant remember.. The thing looked like it was on a bike for a few months and the crank let loose, thing was mint other than a few pits in the dome from the crank letting loose.. Then last year my computer crashed so i sold off a few of my decorations that sit on my computer desk to replenish my saving account from buying the new computer,, $1000 freakin computers! I ended up pulling almost $260 out of the head.. Id never pay more than a $100 for one but im a tight wad and thats me, the other one on my drag bike i traded a board member a complete speedo and install kit for a Big Red for the DG head, a complete speedo system has gotta be worth $150 so you paying $150 is with out a dought a good deal....

Do the DG heads add any performance at all or is it for looks only. lol.
Smaller combustion chamber or anything like that?

It does raise the compression, and disapates heat at a higher rate than the stocker.. Plus it looks so damn COOL!!!
