This is the same guy who is selling an 83R NOS 300Rkit. He said he may auction it off soon.

As much as I would like to have it, I wouldn't want to take it out of the crate once I got it. It would be nice to actually ride it..
A guy in the UK. He is a member here.

Thats actually Hagen in Germany. He has alot of NOS parts that are no longer available along with a killer collection of trikes. He also makes some really TOP notch stuff for alot of trikes.

I can bet I know someone that will be on the bidders list. He's not a member. But an actual yamaha dealer. That will be interesting. I will be looking for it when it starts.

I really doubt that'll end up on ebay. Hagen first posted that picture here probably five years ago. If I recall correctly it belongs to another guy in Germany that he got a hold of through some networking related to Tri-Z's and rare three-wheeler parts in general.

If I got ahold of it I'd leave it in the crate, clean it up and put it in the house. lol.
Hard to imagine something like that being around. I can't imagine going out and buying a new 4-wheeler and somehow getting it from the dealer still in the crate then just letting it sit there. I've bought a new 400ex and a new 450R and never seen them in the crate. I bet most dealers won't even let them go like that.

It is always a matter of $$$$$.
Dealers won't say '' i am not selling it to you because you want it in the crate''.
I bought 3 motocycles deliver in theirs crates to my home. It's a trill to uncrate your toy yourself in your garage. You know that there won't be a little scrach on them.
The fact that this tri-z is still in it's crate make me sick.
i would uncrate it, and store it in my bedroom.

Seeing that in the (partial....the outside panels are gone)crate brings back memories. I was present for the uncrating of the new '86 Z I got from S&W Yamaha in Jasper, AL in 1987(think I got it for $1495).
I actually asked the salesperson if he'd knock off any if I just carried it home in the crate and put it together myself. I think it was only $35 less, so I just let them do it.

I would buy it and ride the crap out of it. I would sooner part it completely out and put those NOS items to good use than let it sit. Can't stand seeing these things sitting. You can have fatheads make you big wall cling of a 86 Tri Z if you want something to look at in your house. :)
P.S. I'm not even in the market and would come up with $2500.

So you don't think it's neat at all that there is a TRI-Z still in the crate? I could not be the guy responsible for making "The TRI-Z in the crate" no longer exist.

I bet if shown to the right guys that tri Z would pull over 20K easy I deal with real extreme collectors that would shell out that money in a heartbeat . the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro of the whole thing is shipping it , thats a project in itself . I know of 2 1970 US90s in the crate that i have been after for years now the guy is kind of wacky has tons of new bikes and is loaded so money is not an bargaining object . they are out there its the hunt to find them thats is the fun part

Very true Mike. I have seen $20,000 dollars change hands in a matter minutes at mid-ohio vintage weekend for things like this. Brand new motorcycles that is. Its all about the right guy looking for this sort of thing.

I think it's neat and I'm glad people can abstain so that we have the opportunity to buy it. $20,000 will come and go, but who out there has the opportunity to ride and enjoy a brand new 1986 tri-z?

I agree Micahdogg. I would snap alot of photos then I would ride the wheels off of it!!!!!!! However, I would maintain it impeccably.

Funny as this may sound, I wouldn't buy it if I could afford it.
I don't want something I can't ride, and I don't think I could bring myself to ride that one....this far down the road from 1986. It's surely sweet, but it's a novelty that belongs in a museum. And much more climate controlled than where it's sitting.
Just my opinion, though.
My riders are well kept.....though very few of them come to me in well kept condition. I have recently laid eyes on a couple of very rare machines being stored exposed to the elements, and it baffles me. This Z is much nicer and worth much more, and it's covered in filth.

I talked to a guy who owns a custom bike shop. He buys and fixes 3 wheelers also. He said he knew were a few 250r's were that were still in there crates. He said the owner would'nt sell for under $8000 each. I think there out there, but dont believe someone till I see the proof

There simply HAS to be more..... People saw the writing on the wall and not all of them chopped out the motors (with little regard to what got ruined during that process....) and I'm sure some if not more than "some" were put aside in their shop or warehouse.
I have the owner of a Honda dealership who lives in my town. When I asked him about parts etc, he said he has and had kept nothing. He said the stuff wasn't selling, the "ban" scared everyone and nothing was worth hanging onto. I believe he told me that Honda gave them kickbacks and they "got rid" of the ATC's. Man, is that frustrating or WHAT!!
But, I can't believe everyone felt that same way.....
Obviously some people saw future profits; the 250R and 350X crate motors, the 250R and 350X rear shocks and the 350X front forks seem to be plentiful.
But why no 250R front forks, or few other model crate motors and why on earth did they destroy the body parts!! Most of the ones we see (NOS) are from people that bought one for a replacement part and just hanged onto them.
Every few weeks something else shows up that were all intrigued with and I hope that continues for years to come....
But, I must admit that at some point I will still collect the originals but were gonna have to switch to newer components and conversions if were gonna keep these things alive and I have no intentions of riding anything other than a 3 wheeler object for years to come :D

i know someone on here has mentioned before a fish and game place has 3 brand new never ridden big reds that they will never sell use nothing do a search! youll find it! and if i was the one to ever obtain it yes it would come out of the crate that very day and be ridden! not to beat on maybe some road tires or in the sand and that's it there are plenty of other bikes out there to beat on! but that would literally be put in my living room to sit on every night to fall asleep on dreaming of all the new trike i could have had if i was born in the 70's

I know that they will be hard to find, and if you do, it will be out of range $$$$$$.
At the end of 2004, i bought a new KX500 2004. It was the last one in Quebec Canada and i drove 10 hrs to pick it up. It wasn't in the crate, it was sitting in the dealer shoow room. Never had gaz in it. It's still that way but sitting again one of my bedroom's wall. I even painted that wall with the same color (kawa's green).
It will be for sale in 20 years.
