Front fork, how much air, 200x?

forks are a little squishy, how much air is required for the front forks? thanks

0 psi. you either need new or heavier oil or new springs

also, could the seals be bad? when you press down on the front end you can hear air comming out, dont remember how it was when i tore it down. :(

I just changed fork oil on my 200x the other day actually. It's pretty easy to do. There are many diffrent weights of oil (Bel Ray) you can use. I went with 10 weight oil, because thats the heaviest the local Honda shop had, but you can get up to 30 weight if you order it from Dennis kirk. To change the oil all you have to do is first let all the air out of the valves on top, and then take out the allen bolt on the bottom of the fork. After all the oil is out, you put the allen bolts back in. Then take off the valve nut caps (the big nuts on the top of the forks). After you do this, you leave the springs in, and just pour 7 ounces of fork oil into eack fork tube. I added a little more, an ounce or two, to try and stiffen it up a little more. Also, I had my 200x on a stand the whole time, so the front end was off the ground. Its a really easy task to do. Just be sure to let all the air out of the forks before you take that allen bolt out of the bottom. The first time I did it, i forgot to let the air out. oops oops!

Pressing on it makes air come out the fork boots - don't confuse that with seal wear.

I just put brandy new 10 wt oil in the 200X front end and it still sucks without any air. Either my springs are worn or I need more than the recommended amount of oil appx 7 oz.

Any success with more oil there fellas????????

dirt, how much do you weigh? if your over 160lbs go with 15wt. or if you ride agressive with lots of jumps. also your springs could be worn. you might want to try adding oil in 1/2 oz incriments

Aaah yes, thank you. Im 200lbs and take some decent leaps. Maybe start with 20wt? whats the max in 1/2 oz increments? do we have 3 or 4 oz to play with in addition to the spec - even upon bottoming??
