Hi guys

I've been around here for some years, I just don't say much :) Has anyone had any experience with these engines? They are direct bolt-ons for some honda models and I'm considering one for my FatCat (TR200). I wouldn't expect it to run like a genuine honda but anyways...

For a 70, 110 or 200x restore, these could be an option.

Here's the link to the page, engines are in the top-left column.

Some people are hesitant and a few long time members/wrenchers here swear by them and love them and have had very few if any problems......

Do a search and you'll find allot of information on them.

The best pitbike motor that money can buy is the GPX 160cc.

Ignore edogs opinion of the lifans...he's been bashing them since 04 but has yet to own one.

They are damned good engines... You can beat the ever living piss out of them, and as long as you change your oil and keep your valves adjusted, they work fine.

Be aware that you will need to either make or purchase a wiring harness for your bike.

The only thing I don't like about them is that on the 200 models, the cases feel thin... They aren't, the engine weighs the same as the 200x engine, but they just feel a little different to me.

I've never even seen one and I know lots of people use them and they are reliable for them and make a lot of power, whats not to like about that? But does anyone else just not like the idea of putting a Chinese or Korean or where ever they are from, engine in a Honda? I can't stand the thought of it. Kinda makes me sick. I would not even buy a bike that had one and if it did I'd pull it out and get rid of it. It seems almost along the lines of putting a Kia motor in a Chevy. I just don't like it at all.

lol !!! to build a 70 motor to the level of a 125cc lifan would be more than double the lifan price,,,
if i had only one trike maybe ... but keep 20 running i can't,,, so please pass on the left ,, when you go by my kia powered chevy!!!:D :D

You forgot kasey... They couldn't pass you if their lives depended on it.

As for the Korean comment...

It would actually be more along the lines of putting a chevy ecotech 2.2 motor into a Honda civic... Yeah you'll make more power stock for stock. But you sacraficed 300k mile reliability for 120k reliability. And that person with the true Honda has a larger access to more performanc parts than you could ever hope for.

If I had to do it again would I use a lifan? Yep, I'd just change out the kicker gears so I could use the kicker rather than have electric start.

stay tuned,,, i am working on a hybrid motor,,, honda transmission out of my trx70,,, with a lifan stroker crank and big bore,,, all lifan topend,,, shound be able to get to 118cc's its looking like its going to be easy with a trx since it already has cdi ignition,,, right now with a stock crank 88cc's is all you can go,,, the downfall of the trx70,,, they added all that front weight and did not increase the power of the atc motor so it feels real underpowered,,, i am going to fix that,,,,

Hey, I appreciate all the opinions & advice! I'm thinking I just might have to buy that vertical 200cc and see how it pans out. I'm pretty easy on the ole' FatCat nowadays anyway... maybe it's guilt for all the h3ll I gave it as a teenager...?
