Its a 1986 model that has been stored properly at the dealer. How much you think it would go for? Never been ran.

average price is 700-1600....
soon as I get an extra grand...I'm buying another one.
dibs on buying it from you if you get it and choose to sell it! lol
you will have to change the clutch fibers...unless the engine was COMPLETELY drained of oil, or turned over on a semi regular basis.

Keep in mind that even though its NOS, you still might have to do some work on it. Depending on how it was stored and if the intake/exhaust was blocked means stuff couldve gotten inside. Also like The Goat mentioned, you will need to replace the clutch fibers, and possibly replace rubber parts that couldve dried out, like seals, o-rings, etc. All that stuff has just been sitting since 1986, and no use at all is the worst thing that can happen to an engine. Just something to keep in mind when buying it, and it makes for good leverage for a price drop. :D
How much is the dealer asking for it?

there is absolutely no feeling like opening up a box containing a 26 year old...NEW engine.
when taking mine apart, all orings and seals seem to be in perfect shape...
the clutch is the problem area.
also...you will find that your cam is pitch black...still not sure why about that. i took it out anyways.
one last comment...a properly rebuilt 350x engine...I mean with a full top end rebuild, including valves and springs...and a new oil pump will run you around 600 or so. I should know...when I sold mine it turned into a downright bidding war, I sold it to the first person who made an offer, for a very reasonable price.
the last NOS one to pop up on ebay had a buy it now of 1500, I threw down a 900 dollar max, and the engine only lasted about 6 hours before someone pulled the trigger. That should give you an idea of what they are going for.

Ive been watching these nos motors for about a year, seen about 6-8 of them go through ebay, I scored one for 800.00, plus shipping, with carb+ oil cooler. I have seen ONE go for less than 700.00, most go for around 1000.00 and up!

My friend bought it today for 500, going to be doing a 250x racer restore and is going to put that engine in. It was stored properly, kicked over every 6 months to move the fluids.
No shelf ware, no scuffs, no rust. Its a purdy engine =P

Someone actually kicked over an engine every 6 months for 23 years?

Thats what the dealer told us. It went down like this; We went in to but any parts they may have, after a few odds and ends he said "we have an engine back here, says 350x, but that could be a typo", took it and placed in on the floor, was mint. Friend told him to find out how much they wanted and he would be back. We came back today at 7am when they opened, he found the original owner of a 350x in 1987 blew the engine and ordered a new one, never picked it up or called back, so it sat. He told us that all engines are inspected 2 times a year and it should be opened just to replace anything that could be old and worn. Looked at the intake, no rust, perfect boot, piston was a beaut. The guy asked his boss for the price and he said 500 for it to get it out of here. Dropped the 500 and left.
This is the same place that I found new parts for my Honda Pilot and Odyssey when I was restoring them.

I'll bet it was a cut out motor....
I don't believe crate motors come with any accesories.
Who cares, GREAT DEAL!!
Last one I bought came with all uncut stuff, a kicker, a carburetor and a new rear shock for 900$ He had 3 more shocks, I should have bought every friggin one :(

I just bought one a couple of weeks ago and paid $455 after shipping, including carb, kicker, decompression cable, and cut stator wires. I have been seeing them go for $600-$900 lately, last year they were bringing $800+ consistently.
Are you looking to sell of buy?
