Well after a few months of progress and a down to the frame restore the 85 200x is coming along nicely. Every thing Is new on the frame except the rear shock which needs to be rebuilt and installed, the rear plastic is original too. The rear caliper is from a 2003 CR85 front brake, which works perfectly. I have ton's of hours into this thing getting all the little details worked out and what not, but the end product is showing that it's worth it.

I recovered the seat using Mr. Mosh's tips and tricks. A couple hours of my time and the seat turned out perfect, not a wrinkle in it and it still sits flat to the tank. The whole deal cost me a Ten dollars for material and staples.

The Gas tank has been repainted by a friend of mine who does body and paint work, he did an absolutely amazing job on it. Pearl white with 3 coats of clear over the paint and decals. It's too nice to ride. lol

The main thing to get finished now is the engine which I'm in the process of rebuilding, then it's just a few odds and ends to tie up. Can't wait to hear this thing run.

Thanks guy's. I didn't wet sand the rear fenders at all, I just put a little mothers back to black on them. The rear fenders are in good shape and had no sun damage, I don't think they sat out much. I am going to get a set of Maier rears to match the front for summer riding. I'll keep this set for winter riding as they do have a very small crack in them.

Nice! What size tires are you running on the back? I need to get started on the rebuild of my '84.

That is a nice mchine indeed. Thise fenders look really good for orgnal. Im assuming you recoverd the seat yourself, Its flawless. Think youd be able to get some 200x logos made up for it?

The tires are 18" something Trekkers, I forget the name. I bought them on Ebay for $12.50 each. They are factory blemishes... One was perfect the other one looked like it was banded to a pallet and had a groove in the bead. Talk about a mother to get seated!!! 40 psi in the tire with a strap and tons of soap. I'm probably going to make them Ice tires and find another set of rims and put 20" tires on it for summer time riding.

I did recover the seat my self, it was a little work but a good stapler a heat gun, some time and anyone can get it done. I have the stencils for the Honda logo on the back of the seat and the 200X on the sides from Kryten here on the board, I just have to get around making them and painting the seat with vinyl die.

Yeah I can, I don't plan on racing any of you guys on the board here. lol ;)

Engine: 10.25:1 compression piston bored one size over stock. Cam and rockers will be sent out to Web-cams for a regrind. I'm also ordering heavy springs for the valves and titanium retainers from Web-cams. D.I.D. cam chain. I'm going to chuck the flywheel up in the lathe and shave a bit of weight off. My friend is going to do the valves, and port the head for me, he knows what he is doing. I have to make a new intake out of aluminum to fit up my 1980 XR 30mm carb. I picked that up off of Ebay a few weeks ago and it's in real nice shape. I might throw a set of heavy duty clutch springs in it too. Other than what's listed it's all stock.

I was contemplating a stroker crank but the extreme crank angles won't give me what I want. If I were to do a stroker it would need a spacer plate between the case and the cylinder, so I can run the longer crank. Maybe next time.

Is there anything I'm missing here?

YES, the stroker crank!!

At least you can buy an 85 model, I'll have to beg borrow and steal to get one made for the 86 200X. In time, all in time..........

Looking fantastic, nice work :beer

hey if you want more outta it, let me know. i got a friend who does CNC valve jobs and also does the valve seat/port work via a cnc machine. He's workign on getting into doing bikes as there's not a ton of good machine shops for bike stuff. he's even capable of doing 2-srtokes i foudn out today.
Anyway, cost (you supply the top end kit and new valves) is $185 +shipping. that includes machine, cleaning and re-assembly all professionally done.

www.theoldone.com is their site. the shop is named endyn.

Good question. I am going to make the head pipe. I will cut and tig weld the pipe together once I get the engine set in the frame. I don't know what size tube I'm going to go with yet (any suggestions?) I want to pick up an FMF powercore 4 for a 80ish xr 200. I need to see how big they are and if I can make one fit.

Goat, thanks for the tip I will take a look at the Basani on ebay. I hear they are good pipes?
