Well I picked this tecate up in November from another forum member. Been working on it ever since to fix some minor issues with it. I fixed the slipping kicker gears and replaced a few gaskets that were leaking. Sanded and repainted the frame with cheapo hammer paint - looks actually decent for a rider.:D
Ended up also sanding and polishing the swinger to make it look nicer. Finally replaced some bearings and seals as needed.
Today was the first time i got to ride it since i bought it. It doesnt seem to like starting in the cold. So after many, many kicks later, it started up and runs pretty nice. Once its warm, it starts no problem.
My plans are to ride it for the winter and see if i want to keep it and do a real restore on it in the spring (powder, new pipe, etc). I like the twist throttle for winter riding and just have a fascination for these tecates.
Next things to do - needs a new flywheel before the oem one in there breaks, and a better shock in the rear and should be a nice rider..... Just blasting around the house and roads was really fun and put a big smile on my face once finally running.:)
Figured id show some pics......
