my 85250sx rear wheels have hit everything but the lottery! i am looking into different rims, but that pesky brake drum is in the way! i know 250es and sx 8" are the only 8" rims that will fit over the drum. just wondering if honda 9" rims will work? also i found a pair of machined 1 1/2"wheel spacers i'm gonna pick up fairly cheap too. anyone? anyone? thanks!

It depends on the off set of the rims and also the bell size of the rim. One thing I do remember is that the sx studs are shorter than 350x studs so the acorn nuts don't get many threads to hold them on.

Neither 400ex nor 450R rear wheels will fit.

but the 85 and 86 brake set ups were diffrent on an 85 your options are limited either a sx or big red wheel or a honda recon o rif you want 11 inch a trx300or rancher etc or a set of aftermarket wheel sbut they must have a large bell. they make them and every 4/110 bolt patern rim i buy has a large bell so if i ever want to switch them to the sx i can.

Well the 86-87 SX can use the 350x rims as long as you have the tapered lugs that go with those rims. You can get plenty of threads on it. But I have heard that the 85 has more issues. You could always just use longer studs if you could.

My dad bought some 8 inch aluminum ITP wheels that work on his 85 250SX.

I was running the 85/86 250R gold rims and Ohtsu's and they looked great. No short stud problems either......
Only thing it, I can't for the life of me remember if I was running it on my 85 or 86 rear end. The 86 rear is much more forgiving.
