I dont know the specs on it, but if memory serves me correct, that cam wont fit in a 200x. Basically the same motor aside from a few differences, but the crf has bearings on the end of the cam where the 200x cam/head would wear over time at. If you used it you would have to also use the head, which im not sure would fit.

some performance cams have the bearings.

yes but you will have to machine your cam jurnals in the head not sure that the crf will work in the x though

Two completely different set ups. The 230 has large ball bearings. The performance cams for the 200x (such as ones from poweroll, webcam, megacycle) are drop in replacements with low profile needle bearings that require no machining or anything. To fit a 230 cam into a 200x you would have to jump through a lot of hoops. I'm curious why you would want to put a 230 cam into a 200x in the first place? Either way heres an interesting page on the smaller honda singles i forgot i had saved... http://www-staff.lboro.ac.uk/~elvpc/bikes.html?http://www-staff.lboro.ac.uk/~elvpc/papers/XR200.html

im not going to use a crf230 cam in a 200x,i was just curious to see if it would work,im looking at the xr200 and crf230 cam specs right now and the numbers are not that much different.but the bearing would definitely be a problem.

it doesn't look TOO far off dirt, looking at the engine from the outside at the dealer, I could have sworn it would bolt right in. It was like looking at a shiny new 200x engine.

I did a bunch of research trying to figure out how to get a crf crank to go into a 200x for the extra cc's. Basically, the entire motor will bolt right in place of the 200x. The head if I remember right was mostly the same. I think the cam chain tensioner might have been a bit different. The goats right though, they look almost identical lol.
Oh and if you want a beter than stock cam, I'm pretty sure theres a cam on ebay all the time thats better than any of the stockers and its pretty cheap. It might not be better, but i thought someone on here said it was....

The CRF230 engine WILL bolt directly into an ATC200X or other early 185 or 200 ATC. The biggest problem is that you will need to aquire and add all of the necessary electrical items to add the battery needed to start the engine as the CRF230 is e-start only and the ignition system is different as well.
It can be done and would be a cool ride no question. The updated engine is a clear improvement over the 200X design, especially in the cam area as discussed earlier, plus it offers noticeably more power in stock form. I offer a number of performance cams for the CRF230.
