The clutch slips when I gas it in 4th gear. Is there anyway I can adjust it or do I just need to replace it?

Does the motor have to really be rev'd up for the clutch to engage? Or does the motor want to rev up without the machine taking off?

The clutch will engage if I ease on it, but if I hammer on it it starts to slip.

My 200m does a similar thing. There are two clutches, but I don't know which one is slipping, and only one can be adjusted.

That info tells me the Primary clutch is going bad. If the machine would take off at high RPM's then that tells me the centrifical clutch is bad.

are you sure your not trying to start the bike in to high of a gear.
what kind of oil are you using?

It don't have much in the way of brakes so I downshift and start from 1st gear. I need to get the brake situation fixed also, but I can handle that. So if its not the centrifigul clutch, can I adjust the other? I am using Pennzoil 10w40. The oil was low, but I didn't notice it til after I already rode it for about 15 minutes. I feel like an idiot for not checking it first, but theres nothing I can do about it now.

There really isn't any adjustment to either clutch on this and simular machines. The adjustment eveyone talks about is for the clutch dis-engager connected to the shift. The adjustment works to disengage the clutch while shifting between gears.

What does this mean / what is the bottom line? If your clutch is slipping then it needs to be replaced.

You can take the clutch out and sand the clutch plates a lil. might get ya movin a bit longer but it will not last. New plates and springs are the way to go.

I found how to adjust the clutch on the 200s, which should be very similar as the 200es. First you lossen the locking nut for the clutch adjustment on the side, then turn the screw all of the way out until it stops. Turn the screw in 1/4 of a turn, and tighten the locking nut.
