What does the plug look like when you take it out? Is it completely oil fouled, or does it look alright?

sounds like it could be running out of gas my raptor did this and it turned out that the float was stuck not allowing fuel to enter the carb.

Looks good as in clean, brown, black what?

Are you sure your getting a steady amount of fuel into the carb. Sounds like it is not getting enough fuel in the bowl, and when you let it sit the bowl is filling up.

I'd check for a clogged petcock, fuel lines and/or float/needle/seat in the carb.

sounds like a carb issue to me. whens the last time you cleaned it? maybe its due? what kinda carb you running? if its not the carb, check your fuel line, if you have an in line filte rit might be clogged and not allowing enough gas to the carb as well.

Sounds like the carb bowl is filling up when it sits then draining when you ride it a bit then dies when its empty.

Take your carb off and clean it with some carb cleaner.

I had the same issue on my 85. In my case it was the stator. I already had a new flywheel, changed plugs, coils, CDI, all that was left was the stator. Now she's faster than ever.

My buddy's TRX250R was doing the same thing once. The gas cap wasn't venting. Frustrating as hell to spend all night in the garage then figure out a twist of the gas cap would have had it running all along.

I'm Just Trying To Keep From Buying Everything Electrical If We Can Narrow It Down.

Are you using a good plug? I had an RM250. It took a sepcific plug. I tried using cheaper plugs, and it would run about an hour at the most and quit. The plug would still look new. I was told that the ignition was "blowing" the plugs. Basically the ignition was too hot for the cheaper plug. I had to buy the more expensive one. Not sure if that would be the problem, but you might want to make sure you are using the plug Kawi calls for.

You might double check what Kawasaki calls for. I don't know if that could be it or not. I am not familiar with Tecates. I remember having all kinds of hell with my RM in that respect.

The Kawasaki manual says that the US model calls for a B8ES and the Canadian model uses a BR8ES. Hope this helps.

Those are pretty common plugs. I believe the R just means it is a resistor plug. I really don't think that would have any affect.
