valvoline vr1...or any oil that is rated for gear shear (motor cycle oil) and still has zink in it.

I will break mine in on spectro 4 then it will get Amsoil 0w-50 full synthetic.

I use Honda 4 Stroke Oil. I may be overpaying, but have never had any problems.

this reminded me of another thing

the factorys will only promote oil they feel is good (i think most guys can agree with that) and acording to my buddy who owns a buel/hardly ableson, valvoline vr1 is one of the few oils they recomend.

I'm pretty sure it's which oil company will make an oil to the manufacturers minimum specs for the cheapest price.

but they arnt looking to replace motors under warenty ether, there specs are high i'd say.

im sure price has a good bit to do with it but i'd bet money there oil is better then the new ''safe'' oil.

i could realy care less what brand it really is, im sure they know what needs to be in the oil they use.

amsoil 20w-50 synthetic motorcycle oil, easier on the clutch, shifts easier, quiter running engine, and a little more performance. only bad thing is its expensive around 7$ a quart.

Why not use the 0w-50 Amsoil? Just curious? Mine will get run in both winter and summer so what's better?

to be honest i don't know which would be better, is the 0w-50 specifically designed for motorcycle type engines? reason i ask is that my amsoil dealer told me the motorcycle oil was better for the clutch(dry or wet). also i was under the
impression that the 20w-50 was the only motorcycle oil weight availible, i imagine the 0w-50 might be easier on intial start up when everything is cold. but i have run the 20w-50 year round in michigan temps range from 0 degrees in the worst part of winter to 95 at the hottest in summer. it's always been good to me, and it last longer than standard petroleum oil. fordfan go on to google and find amsoil's home page, you should be able to call the company direct and they will be able to get you in touch with a local amsoil dealer.

Sorry I lied to ya guys it's 0w-40, but made just for the atv, and wet clutches. Ya it's a bit expensive but the way I see it the 200x doesn't take a lot of oil so I'm willing to pay a bit more to keep good oil in it.

What's everyone's thoughts on it?

Well finally got to the local Honda shop today and told them I was looking for oil for my 85 200X, the "kid" I talked to talked me into buying Lucas semi-synthetic oil and a oil stabilizer.
Just wondering if any of you have tried the Lucas oil products and what your thoughts are of them?
On a side note the "Kid" said he wasnt even born when the 3 wheelers were produced. i just thought that was kinda funny !

if you use any of the oil stabilizers with a wet clutch you willbe replacign contaminated clutch disk!!!!!!!!! and unles sits a motorcycle rated synthetic for wet clutches same deal thats why i go with a basic 15/w45 shell rotella its a fleet service diesel oil but it also does not have the3 additives in it liek mos tof the modern oils and i have yet to replace a clutch and i abuse clutches on alot of my bikes badddddddly!!!!

The oil is rated for wet clutches!

And the stabilizer is rated to use 10% in the oil and says it will not hurt wet clutches! I am not arguing with you... that is why I am on the forum to get everyones input and thoughts good and bad!
Thanks tim
