what would a street titled trike frame be worth

Street titled in your area may not transfer to another area. I wouldn't expect that claim to raise the value of the frame in any reasonable manner.

yeah new yorks pretty strict, so if it is already street titled in new york, i think it would probably be legal in any state. for the frame alone, i'd slap down about 150 depending on the condition. and yes i would build me a street legal trike and ride it everywheres, just to see the cops faces when they pulled me over thinking they have an easy impound on their hands.

my tri-z transfered from illinois to florida with a title that said red m/c.the dmv sees it as a motercycle.driving it around is a different story.the cops do not like it.I am glad they let me cruise main street daytona during the big bike events.I think what you have is very valuable to the person who wants to put all the street stuff on it.I would keep them.

I agree. :( Even after clearing the DMV, I would expect to be pulled over constantly here in Wisconsin. You may get let go, but sitting along side the road in front of the disco lights would get old. I could see some Buford T getting a hair up his hole and making sure the registration gets revoked. That's the "MAN" for ya! :twisted: Can't have any fun. Really, it should be legal. 100% agree. It's not like something extra is done to the frame to claim it's street legal. It's no different than any other frame.

guys, you can register basically anything and get a title for it. It is the inspection that is the problem and from what I understand, the solid rear axle is the reason an ATC wont pass inspection. I could be wrong, but that is my understanding of the inspection rules. So if you want constant tickets for no inspection, go for it.

to answer everyones questions... yes geico will do it i needed insurance to register them........yes you cant have a solid rear on the street because of making fast turns if you know a guy who can inspect it you are golden...... title will transfer to any state as long as you don't walk in to dmv and are like hey i want to register this 3 wheeler that should not go on the road on the road hear is my title .......... i was looking to get in the 500-1000 range per frame

Exactly and where I live we don't have inspections at all. I took the title to my XR500R to the DMV and asked for plates and they handed them over. This bike says offroad use only on the frame and had no turn signals, brake light, mirrors etc. It had just as much street equipment as an ATC250R. Head and tail light only, expect it doesn't even have high/low beam! You could do the same with a title for a 3-wheeler or CR250 too. It just says Honda motorcycle, they don't know the difference.

I believe his point is that if they are already rolling in the DMV as street machines, that in itself makes them worth allot of money to any common person that doesn't want to jump through hoops and over hurdles only to get there street ATC machine denied..........

I also have a tri z that is titled as a motorcycle. But you can't and wont be able to get it inspected unless it has all of the safety and emissions stuff on it. so useless. but it is a titled frame which is good for new york

^ There are some pretty smart lawyers out there. Do you think a lawyer would be smart enough to figure out about a rear solid axel? Also I believe they (lawyers) would pic that ATC apart LOOKING for anything wrong, non DOT compliant. I would love to ride a ATC on the road (legally) like they do in Europe but at what sacrifice.

You wouldn't need chain drive, shaft is fine. Lots of street bikes are shaft drive and so are most cars. :lol:
Not sure on the diff though. I know a Honda TRX300 has a front diff but not rear. And Kawasaki made a 3-wheeler with a rear differential, something like a KLT250.

if a cop or lawyer wanted to bust balls they can get you for non dot... rims... brakes.... brake lines.... damageinc has the right idea with a rear with a diff but now no 4x4 rear is doing 75mph for any long period of time like a stock R rear would
