250sx heatguard

I have change the front pipe on my SX tonight,and my spare parts have a heatguard on it,never seen one before,it's a Hondaline optional part?? or all sx had them from factory and every body remove over the year...??

That pipe is from a 86-87 SX. The factory added that extra guard to stop the headpipe from melting the mudflap.
