Way better shape then my last one. 1985 ATC250ES. Was supposed to be a runner, just has sat for a few years in an open shed for a while. When it was last run, the guy said it was idling really high, so he put it up. Has old school Maier plastics, which are a bit beat up but theyre there. Tank has a few dents and a small leak which is being fixed, got the big dent out and it should be fine. Missing the side panels, reverse cable, and maybe 1-2 bolts but otherwise its complete. Other small problems were leaking front tire, no front brake cable, rear handbrake cable is junk, seat needs recovering, and the toolbox bottom is broken out.
It did have a speedo on it at one time, but all thats left is the drive and cable holder, and I think the drive is seized. It also came with a plow, but Im not sure what its from. The blade is off of something, but the mounts/bars are homemade I think, and dont really fit the machine. I already have plans to make a better mount/bar setup using the blade, and I will also be adding a brand new 2000# winch to the front for the plow.
Other small stuff Ive already done is cleaned out the carb/airbox, wasnt too dirty but it never hurts to do it. New plug, changed the engine and rear diff oil, fixed the front tire, cleaned out some of the rust in the tank, cleaned out a bunch of threads since some of the bolts were stiff, and oiled/greased up anything that moves. Since the tank wasnt fixed I sprayed a little starting fluid in and it fires up 1st kick!! The guy I got it from said the engine 'whined', which Im assuming is the one-way gear on the flywheel for the electric start gone bad...from what Ive read its fairly common, can anyone confirm this?
