I just bought my first powered bike. It's pretty much all there, just in need of some TLC. It starts, runs, and shifts through all 4 gears, high and low, but there seems to be some carburetion problems. I have to give it throttle and/or choke it off and on to keep it idling. The bearings in the rear are beyond shot and the brakes are non-existent. I've rebuilt a few go-carts with Briggs and Stratton 5hp engines, but never messed with this sort of thing. I'm sure the carb just needs a good cleaning or refreshing. As for the rear, I can rebuild it with new seals and bearings. The brake drum has a few dents in it, probably why the shoes were removed. On eBay, I found an axle from a 125 complete from wheel nut to wheel nut that looks identical to my stuff- will it interchange? The same seller also has a 125 motor- will that be a direct swap-in? My 110 runs, but seems to take a second to rev and sounds like its really struggling towards the top end. I don't know if it's from bad carburetion, weak motor, worn valvetrain, or what. I figure it would be worth the money for the extra power. Speaking of, what are the power figures for the 110 and the 125? I don't wanna dump thousands into this bike on a restoration. I got it for $120 and am looking for a fun, reliable yard bike that can maybe get the front wheel up.
Anyway, I'm enjoying my new project so far and look forward to making some new friends here.
