I was looking to get new rear tires for my 86 Tecate, and like the Titan Fast Trekkers but i dont know weither to go with 18x11x10 rears or 20x10x10. I found both sizes on ebay for cheap but they are factory blems. what do you guys think??

When I'm not riding in the dunes, I ride mostly in our farms grass fields or on gravel or dirt roads around my house.

I would go with 18's....

i have 18x11x8 on my Z "BLEM FAST TREKKER" and 18x11x10 on my 250R, and they are really good on gravel or dirt road!

I've never ridden in Oregon, but if it's rocky like it is here, I'd stick with the 20's.

I've got the blemished 18" Titan Fast Trekkers from Ebay. Super cheap but awesome tire. I can't even find a blemish on mine. However, the 18's aren't any good around here in the woods, in the mud, or on the hills. I rode with my 18's once and immediately put my 20" Razr's on. The 18's are perfect for motocross because they corner well, but they just won't push you through the mud, not to mention the lack of ground clearance is going to bash up your chain and brake rotor if it's rocky there. You'll also have to change your gearing with the 18's. I will always have the 18's on hand for MX, but that's it.

The 20's give good ground clearance and are just slightly worse in the mud than my stock 22's, but they corner decent and look good. You probly won't have to change your gearing with them, either.

For everyday riding I would reccomend the 20's for sure.

Here are the 18's-

Does any one have any pictures of a 86 Tecate with 18's and 20's on it? I don't know if the 18's will look too small with the extended swing arm on my bike.

and yes, before the questions fly...that is my 85' rear bearing carrier, axle, and hubs on my 86. i just had to see what it would look like with the fatass and 18inchers on it.

Here's mine with 18s. I think they are too low for riding conditions around my state. I only used them once and now they are sitting around doing nothing. I did not like how there was a bit of a gap between the rim and the tire. No one else's pictures look that bad. Mine were blems and all they had wrong was like a thin fin all the way around on the tread. Came right off with a razor blade. Maybe I should make them into ice tires since it is kinda hard to sell them with those blowout tire deals on ebay.

Thanks guys, Scooterroo are those flames painted on to the rear swingarm? Is there any pictures of a set of 20's on a Tecate or another trike with 10in wheels?

I went with the 20x10x10 for $20 each. I'm hoping they will come by this weekend, I'll post some pics when I get them put on.

Heres something to mull over in your head. Honda 250X or 300EX hubs that have worn splines inside and fit sloppy on the Honda axle would fit tight on the 86 Tecate axle so you can run the wide selection of Honda wheels. There are always lots of Honda 450R wheels on ebay that are new takeoffs. Not to mention the wide selection of tires for 9 inch rims.

Anyway...if you want to trail ride or ride anywhere that isn't perfectly flat and groomed then I'd go 20 inch. 20 inch Turf Tamers would be great.

Opps, passed that last comment and posted.

You can get those Fast Trekkers off Ebay for cheap. I just ordered my second set for $60 shipped to my door. Not bad...

Yes but i had to make 1/2 inch spacers so the axel nuts will tighten down.

As far as I know that rubber is discontiued. If anybody knows where to get one, let me know too. Chaplin Kawasaki makes the decals you need. They're on Ebay. If you don't see the ones you need, send them a message and they'll let you know if they have any.

they are on ebay from time to time... I saw one go for $112... then I sniped one a week later for $15... I had thought of trying to adapt one from a quadracer before I got my spare

Anybody have any comments on the stock tires on the 1st gen T-3's? How do they perform? My riding is mainly on dirt, grass and gravel. Mine has them all around, with decent tread, but they're dry rotted. I'm not in the market for new tires yet, (it doesn't even run) but I figured I'd ask while this thread is fresh. thanks.

I have no complaints about the front.. I would use them as long as they will hold air...

i know you can find complete reproduction decal kits on ebay for both the 86 and 87 t3's. nice decals too. chaplin kawi has them as well, and can make them if they dont have them in stock i believe. look around ebay though, check ebay stores, etc... use chaplin as a last resort if you have too, they can be pricey with some of their stuff. they had the headlight decal going for almost 40 bucks a few weeks back. i got a complete 86 decal set, including warning labels and specification labels, for 80 bucks. that is a complete kit. both shrouds, headlight, both rear fenders, and rear decal, plus the warning labels and specs decals. not bad if you ask me.

and yah might not wanna be careful putting your cell number up on the internet, never know what weirdo's are out there.

You get what you pay for with Chaplin. Their decals are second to none. I've gotten other decals from Ebay and they wore off after a few rides. The Chaplin decals are great.

yeah, but there are others out there that are just as good if not better... im not saying dont deal with chaplin, just saying do your shopping before you go spending more then you need to.
