Just like the title says. I got my $130 1986 200x running today if anyone remembers the pics, it's rough. Anyway we just pull started it and it runs great! The clutch is about totally gone though, worst I've ever seen. If you hit any type of hill in first gear it will stop the bike! No we didn't run it long, I'm sure thats real bad on the oil.
Anyway after we got it running we took a kickstarter off something else, I had to grind on it a slight amount to keep it from hitting the side case but now I have plenty of clearance and it works great.
But before I spill the beans I want to see what others have came up with if anything. shens

Who knows.... Could be a very low displacement model like an XR75. CRF80, CRF 150 or something....
Those 86 shafts are tiny, without the decompression cable working, the shaft snaps off quite often. Then Honda added 3mm to it in 87 so - stupid people without manuals who couldn't adjust the cable - wouldn't snap them....
I still can't understand why people pay 50$ shipped for used ones when new ones are still available for about 85$..............................................
Then again, if you can buy a crapper for 20$, I guess it does the trick. But, my cable and phone bill alone could buy 3 new kickers a month :D

Damn, I never heard of them breaking off. Crazy. And yes we pulled the whole 3-wheeler with a TRX300 and popped the clutch in gear to start it. And an XR or CRF kicker would fold out the wrong way since they kick backward.
I used a kicker from a Kawasaki Mojave! Same splines! And they are on ebay for a buy it now of $10 all the time!

Hmm, well I'll be, a fricken Mojave! The whole time the cheap solution was right there under our noses. Thanks for the tip:beer

What year Mojave kicker will fit? How well does the kicker fit compared to the old one (like in the fender slot for it)? And Im assuming the Mojave kicker kicks forward? And could you throw up a pic of where you had to grind off?

I pulled the kicker off an 87 Mojave, and yes they kick forward, but I'm 99% sure every year is the same. I looked at one from a 2001 on ebay and it looked identical.
As far as the slot in the fender I'm not sure since my 86 200X is so beat it has fenders from an 85. lol.
I will work on getting a picture, I'm trying but having probs with that for some reason.
