I was looking at one in oregon, and on my way to it I stopped in Tacoma to drop my GF at her parents. I found a 250sx out of the corner of my eye. The electric starter has been taken out, kick start is really loose and only 1 out of 10 times will catch the gear it seems. Has a redneck rack, hand warmers, cables are frozen, and the boot that goes from the shaft to the rear is so dry rotted it fell apart.

Guy told me to take it off his yard, gave me the registration he had, all the plastics (2 cracks that can be fixed) and after a drink and meet with him family I was off!)

Guy told me it worked great until it sat all winter, he tried the electric start and it wouldnt work and told me that the kicker hasnt worked since 1987, one day he kicked down and it just wouldnt go up.

Costed 33.00 in gas.

Guy told me for the rust in the tank to use Hydrochloric Acid? Does that work?

I'll get pics after I clean it up, been under a tree for about 10 years!

Took me a few years to find this one, 250sx's are rare in these parts.

Anyone have any idea on what that crud is in the carb? Carb cleaner isnt even getting it off..

DC- You ever try muriatic acid in a tank?

EDIT- Do I have DICO forks? Didn't notice that at first..

Nope, you just have the stickers :D

I use Muriatic acid and it works very well, Hydro is BAD STUFF - Make sure to wear gloves and goggles and have 5 gallon bucket of water nearby. I soak them for hours at 1/2 water 1/2 acid....

Do I have to line the tank with anything afterwards? Thanks for the confirmation!

Im concerned about this crud in the carb and intake... =\

Tank is clean, made new cables (not choke, dont have enough line), and rebuilt most of carb.

Side case is about to come off so I can find my kicker woes..

Yeah, you gotta coat the tank after or it's so bare that it rusts quick......

On your right lower tripple clamp there is an upside down 250R or 350X upper front brake hose guide :D

one time I put a bunch of bb's in a tank and shook the hell out of it, that worked pretty good. What do you use to coat the inside after the acid?

I found a speedo gear box also =P

Handwarmers work and the shock bolt was rusted through, I sat on it and it fell apart! LOL.

I think the valves are rusted shut =( I cant get this engine to turn over at all!!!

Running 2 years ago my ass, lol the carb was so crud filled it took 3 hours of soaking to free it!!!

twilight........ did you pull that plug or was it sitting out like that? killer deal though....... excellent build-up potential on one of the best all around trikes. As far as your rust issues go check out this thread... looks like it might be worth a try before going the acid route? good luck :beer http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=89712&highlight=rust

Already got the acid out and lined the tank, thanks though, haha another link to save.

I pulled the spark plug out, was black and had oil in it. Its starting to get dark, so im stopping for the day on this. I am in need a few parts, im gonna try and see if my FL350 starters will fit this, as I have 3 of them.

I also saw my 86 200x on craigslist... when i sold it, it had new shrouds, one crack on back plastics and small on on front... 2 months later the rears are screwed, front is in half, now it doesnt run and he is wanting 950.00... god if i would have known it would have been thrashed I wouldnt have sold it.
