maybe a tri-z on sat?

going to look at an 85 tri-z for 850.00 needs fork seals and rear shock to be re-charged. new carrier bearings and swingarm bearings and chain and sprockets. sounds like a good deal. just wondering if any major things to look for on those that tend to be problems with them if any because this will be my first z

typical yamaha then? i still want it though always have wanted one they are a sweet looking trike and i need to expand my collection some more

How are the plastics? Tires? How old is the top end?

Don't let anyone scare you off a Z based on reliability. I have more than enough experience with them to say that when they're right, they are the most reliable of the old 2-strokes....hands down.

Parts availability notwithstanding(still better than a Tecate), they are the best all-around performance rider there is.

My (bought new)'86 Z saw mud, water, trails, sand, woods, races...etc.. for 5+ years on the original spark plug and rings. It never failed to crank and I never had to push it......so Z's hold a special place with me.

Waterpumps can be a problem. They fail and overheat. Start the bike and pop the cap to see if the coolant is circulating. Check the axle to make sure it's straight. Check the right side clutch/kickstart cover for cracks. Fork seals are easy to replace on these bikes.
I love my Z's. Work out some of the bugs and they're great bikes. Some Banshee parts interchange with them also.
If possible, do a compression test on the cylinder too.

sweet thanks alot guys. the plastics are good same with the tires guy says it runs great starts second kick when cold. ill check out those few other things too.
