I saw Chaplin KAw was selling case savers for the Tecate here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-KAWASAKI-KXT-TECATE-3-ENGINE-SPROCKET-COVER-KXT250_W0QQitemZ400007004463QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMot ors_ATV_Parts_Accessories?hash=item400007004463&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A10|39%3A1|240%3A1318

So I looked at some pictures and decided to buy a KDX200 case saver that came with the metal spacer plate the goes behind the plastic piece like Chaplin is selling. My purchase was also cheaper than Chaplin's price.

The bolt holes due appear to line up but I have not installed it yet.

Also this case saver appears to be the same as KX500 (and maybe many others).

It is gray though but maybe it can be painted.

Just posted this cause I do not ever remember seeing any Tecates with one of these on it.

Well I put it on my 1986 KX250 and the metal part, which is actually the case saver, is really close to the chain, but the 14t sprocket is larger than the stock Tecate. Didn't seem like it was rubbing. I think it will be fine. You could just buy the metal guard plate.

I'll have to try a KX500 one next.

Kx 500 are the same but made for the 14 tooth
I think they list a differant # for differant tooth count.

that looks like a newer kx250 sprocket cover.

i'll have an aluminum case saver made for the 86-87 tecates. just give me few weeks.

Sweet, cause it's the same as 84-85.
