hello fellow 3 wheelers, So heres the story i just bought my first trike a few days ago for 400$ canadian. its an 84 250r. early in its life it blew up a piston and sat unused, it has small particles of the piston everywhere in the cylinder, yet it still turns over and feels perfectly normal. it was sitting for years with tons of oil in it. so my question is will i have to completly dissasemble the engine? i have already drained all the oil to dry to get rid of all the pieces. is it possible to just keep draining it and flush them out? all help appreciated thanks, Dan
welcome to the site!! usualy if a piston grenades and it dosnt instantly toast the crank, then you can wash out the crankcase really well and put a rebuild to end on it.....
but after sitting for many years I would sugest tearing it down and doing a complete rebuild, that way not only do you have peice of mind but you will also have a fresh tight motor! and no worries!
also if you drained the oil... that is the trans oil, wich is completly seperate from the crankcase (oiled by the premix)
