So how many members here actually have short track kits for their liquid Rs? Does anyone still make reproduction shrouds? How many people have incomplete kits? And, let's see some :pics: :pics: :pics:

Mine is all used, but I have one nice complete setup, including hoses. I have an extra tank (rough), one extra set of shrouds (real rough). I also gave (traded) almost a complete setup away to one of our fellow board members here, last summer.

I dont, I know Tony had some molds last time I asked, but didnt want to make anymore.

I have made 200x shrouds though. I'll get the pic of one I did.

A member here bought the mold for that, and I have sold my 200x and extra shrouds.

I have three kits... One is brand new NOS still in the original Honda box, the second is on the bike below, and the third is in excellent used condition but I need a new set of shrouds for it... The right shroud for that kit has a small crack around one of the mounting holes.. I also have an extra tank and lower triple for spare parts..

If anyone wants to start reproducing those shrouds let me know! I will take a few sets...

I can make more. Just wont be as hard of plastic...

Hell I could probably make aluminum shrouds!

So make more shrouds, the demand is there. No aluminum though, I want plastic. "If you make them, they will buy them".:beer

Its not tough plastic and its vacuumed formed plastic. I dont want the same reaction Tony got.

okay, let me see if I have some liquid plastic left and some other stuff i need, if im able to reproduce one off my friends stock 250r shroud, then i'll do it for whoever needs it.

Problem is colors. Right now I have white and black. If I can find some cheap red, i'll do red.

I want white short track shrouds, that would be perfect.

Twilight
11-11-2008, 12:07 AM
lol alright, i'll make a set on my friends and see how it turns out. If i get the 250sx tomorrow might be slow.

If its successful, i'll send one of you the price for the shrouds you have, i'll make my mold, and then send it back for a refund.

Sorry, you got me a little confused here.

Twilight

Okay, im going to make a repro of my friends STOCK 250r shroud to see how it comes out. If it goes good, then instead of asking for a Short Track set to use for free, i'll give you what they are worth until I make a mold. When the mold is done, it will be returned for a refund back to me.

Basically, its a way of me making sure nobody feels like they are giving a set for nothing without insurance.

Oh, gotcha, except, I have 0 shrouds. Somebody else would need to pitch those in. Someone else should donate to this cause. I'm just the guy with the money to buy shrouds but nobody wants to sell any, you hoarders! j/k

well this is all in the planning for me right now. I dont know if I have all the stuff I used when I lived in australia or `how it will come out. The 200x is a solid piece, while the 250r has the openings.

I would be greatly interested in these new shrouds too! count me in! But how would the price look for something like this?

Twilight
11-11-2008, 12:46 AM
I dunno, down in AU the plastic costed like 50 bucks for enough to make 20 shrouds. Hard part is getting it right and the colors right.

White and Black are easy.

motoman110
11-11-2008, 01:05 AM
that doesnt seem to bad, a heck of alot better then not having them! lol but i do have a black tank so i wouldnt even know what color shrouds would look the best with the rest of the red bike. But im not going to worry bout yet.

Does the mold ruin the original? What about the decals? I have 2 extra sets of shrouds. one pair new the other has scuff marks.

Twilight... Back when Tony was making the shrouds I inquired about getting some red ones produced.. He give me the run down on the color red in Australia and how hard it was to find anything that remotely come close to matching the Honda Red of that era. At that time we worked it out that I would buy the plastic from Maier and ship it to him. Well.. to make a long story short... I ended up buying two 4' x 8' sheets of #2 Red plastic from Maier to ship out to him. Needless to say, that is about the time he fell out with others on this forum and wouldn't respond to any of my emails regarding the address or shipping. And yes.... Never the less.... I still have those two sheets of red plastic!

After you do a trial run and get a mold set-up I would like to work out something with you and see about using this plastic up that I have just lying here.. I need to get rid of it and would love to have it used for my original intentions if you would be willing to do so?

I'd take a set or two of shrouds in either red(prefered), or white(second choice), even though I don't have a tank right now....or an R at the moment(which will change as soon as my Jeep sells).

Yep, I'll take a set of white shrouds. Good thread Ninja! I too got a set from the guy down under about 2 years ago. They were a bit brittle, but at that price, (cheap) who the heck cares! They looked great! I wish I'd bought a couple extra sets back then. Any help and effort is most appreciated!!!!!!:beer
