that looks like ass if it came off a fl250, after 4 years of running mine it had small blackness and barely any pitting,

It looks to be a dg.

Yeah, that sunburst head will fit your 81-82 R with no problem, the 83-84 R though requires you to shave the fins down in one spot a little bit. It doesn't affect it's performance any. $200 is too much, especially now, no more than $125 for that one.

I wouldnt pay 100 for one in that condition. It is a FL250 DG head though. Try to lowball him, a like new one is 250 or so.

The fl250 only has 4 cylinder studs so it wont bolt on an 81-84 atc 250r which has 6 studs. The other holes you see are for dowel pins.

My bad, I didn't even catch that when looking at it! Good call. I was thinking of the sunburst head from an 81-82 R going on an 83-84 R. Doesn't the FL250 cylinder swap over to the R though? Also, from the top that head has provisions for 6 studs correct? You'd just have to drill the holes out larger right?:wondering

1upfront knows his airfooler Rs. It wouldn't be worth the trouble to drill it out. All six holes would have to be drilled. The pistons will interchange though.:beer

I know the pistons will interchange. Will the FL cylinder bolt onto the R bottom end though? So the bolt spacing is totally different on the head? I'm just curious because I've had 3 of the DG R heads pass through my hands. I also love to know what can be swapped with what and what can be adapted.

I think the FL jugs will bolt on to the air cooled R but the exhaust port come out at an angle so mounting a pipe would be a problem

The fl350 jug will bolt on a 81-84 250r bottom end if the cases are bored for the larger sleeve diameter but I don't know about the fl250 cylinder bolting on, it wouldn't be worth it anyhow because the fl250 was a non reed valve motor and they don't make as much hp.

That makes sense.

Stock FL250 was around 23HP, But I could see the FL350 jug working well.

That's the same as a stock 250r ain't it?

The 83-84 250r had 29 hp stock the 81-82 had less because of the little carb.

I know that I did the CR250 swap to my FL250 to gain up to 30HP on the FL250, this included a DG head.

I had one of the only 250's with a 250 engine to pull a small wheelie haha.

is there any crank work involved? and is the stock uncut fl350 piston used?

the stock fl350 piston can be used but you'd have to stroke the crank or take 4mm off the cylinder.
