Wel brand new BR9ES, fresh 93 octane with amsoil S2000 oil same way I have always ran it, great compression same as when it was rebuilt 2 months ago. I cant figure it out could my reeds be bad already? I never did anything with the mixture screw on the carb so it coulden't be too rich it didnt foul plugs out too much.

Try using a hotter plug like a BR8ES

Well the plug im runnning is my last Denso W27ESR-U, it is the same exact set up from tuesday when I was riding it just new piston(same size) my reeds I could hold them up to light and there was a gap there on my power reeds should these be like this and if not how can I fix them? How often do I have to change them if these ones only have a whole 5 hours on them dosen't make sense.

thanks

Back up to when it last ran right, and then give a detailed history of what its been through, and whats been done since that time.

Reeds can be flipped, and I make it a habit of doing it often when Im in there.

A SMALL GAP IN THE REEDS IS NO BIG DEAL ,,,, they work on crankcase pressure , with a very small amount of positive pressure they will be slammed closed tight and sealed up ,,,

Sorry I never went back and read this post. Heres a list when it was running right, I was racin my friend on his 350x(not holding it wide open for more than 10seconds) .0020 over piston and boyesen power reeds installed at this time. Shut it down let it cool down while i cleaned the fenders and made sure the engine was cool before it was sparayed off with the power washer(widest degree nossle on it back about 10ft so it wasnt any high pressure on it just sprayed it off and left it alone cleaned everything on it while it dried when it was dry kicked it after about 5 times it fired it was acting funny could hit it after I let it warm up and it wouldent rev up or run for crap with the clutch out put it in the garage and listend for air leaks heard on on the left side the base gasket(cometic) was pulled into the cylinder area when i got it all apart 3 months after i put a piston and gasket set on it. I ordered my new piston and gasket set got it all together and it didn't run right it was getting really hot and didnt have low end got up to silver lake and found out my head gasket was leaking( copper gasket) so pulled the head off cleaned everything off at least 3 times just to be safe and for more put a thin layer of the red formagasket on it to be on the safe side torqued it down and it ran good after i pulled my reeds out and seen one side of the dual stage style was up on top and bottem of the upper reed and the bottems of them were alittle higher on one side but never the less they were sticking up if I flipped them the other side would stick up so I worked at getting them to lay flat on a perfectly flat surface and on the reed block after about a day and a half or after it would get hot( i shut it down about every 25mins or so because it would get too hot) sometimes after it cooled it would run great others no low end or i could be riding it and it would just start to surge and not want to rev up and have nothing for power I would get it back and pull them and the gap is back. I understand a small gap but im talking a gap where i can look at the back of the block where the rubber boot bolts on and look through them and see out. Sorry for such a long post I figured the more detailed on what it was doing the better you guys would have a idea if its just me or if something is actually wrong.

Thanks for the help
