whats the best sport-utility trike?

im intrested in selling my no rear suspension kawi 185 to get a fully suspended trike with reverse and auto clutch. what bike was better out of the yamaha 225 and hondas 250sx? anybody know which bike won the magazine shootouts between them?

Actually they're both pretty solid machines. You would be happy with either imo.

I've owned both. The Yamaha YTM had weak starters, which left you yanking on a pull rope. Reverse was kind of goofy to shift in to, if your YTM had it. Only the DR models had it. The SX electric start is pretty solid, and you always have a kicker just in case. The YTM is a lighter machine, at least the way it rides. After owning both, I'd take the SX over the YTM 9 times out of 10. It's all personal preference, but that's my stance.

I love my SX, but my DR is a wheelie machine....... More parts around for the SX in my opinion. Both machines are very trail worthy, and the SX is good in sand. I have never had the DR in sand.

My brothers sx was unbeatable, and believe me we tryed!

That thing survived everything we threw at it, and it was already a 20+ year old machine when he got it.

Dont have any experience with the Yami uts, just saying the Sx we had was rock solid.

Do pay attention to the differentials though, its a pain if you end up having to do bearings.

I've got a 225DR and Itrike recently sold his 250SX. We had both machines on some trails recently and I would have to say that the SX was a much smoother more refined ride, but I like the seating position on the DR better. . The SX had a touch more power, but not enough of a difference to really make me want to pick one over the other. The two machines were really nearly functionally equivalent. The SX has the nice trunk in the back. That's one clear advantage.

thanks for your opinons!! i used to own a ytm and sold it because my klt 185 was faster and better in the sand. but full suspension sounds way better to me these days!!!
any word on making the ytm or the sx faster? are there still hop ups avalible? i plan to add mud tires which rob power

Honda 250SX is a great bike. It is reliable, has a bunch of accessories such as racks, hitch and even a plow. It's a great all around bike. I love mine.
