When the timming jumped would the valves had hit the piston?

try moving the timming cam sproket a tooth or 2 either way. set the timming advance a few teeth if that don't work retard them a few teeth. a buddy's of mine bayou was like that, the timming was spot on according to the marks, move the sproket a few teeth and perfect then.

also u can try to move the plusar thingy a lil each way.

Make sure the pin for the rotor didn't fall out of the cam. Most likely it's a 180 degree's out of time.

Just for fun, try a new plug, but that is probally not it. Make sure the timming isn't out 180 degrees. If you took the sproket off of the cam, you may have put back on upside down. Also try checking the valve gap.

^+1 or check the cdi advance, if it got taken appart it coudl ahev ended up backwards. make sure the line is on the same side as the notch that goes on the rotor pin on the cam end. if it's not it will be 180 out and have that issue.

quick question, don't the plug fire everytime the piston reaches top dead? i mean fire every rotation, if that the case how can it be off 180, prob just a stupited question, or i'm just not thiking this moring.

this would mean it isnt firing at top dead if it is off 180. the cdi could be telling it to fire to late or to early. as long as you have spark and it doesnt clank when you are trying to start (firing to early) I would back the chain. sounds like it might be trying to fire when piston is already going down. If it was firing on the way up the noise would be noticed when it fired. You are getting a nice blue spark right? I would also check all fuses in it when my 125 got a little warm and back fired it blue a fuse and would not start. Might be the same when it jumped time and fired at the wrong time.
Just my 2 cents

it's a 4 stroke. 4 strokes fire every OTHER stroke.
up=squish a/f
down=bang fire off
up=push out exhaust gases already burned
down=pull in new a/f

it fires every other tdc. if your 180 out, it's trying to fire on the exhaust tdc not the compression.

i knows for a fact not all 4 strokes are like this.
my 1979 honda xl 100 is a 4 stroke and fires every stroke. now the bike is points under the flywheel, not cdi either.

i just relized how it works on the cdi though. i can rem if the lil o on the cam sproket lines up when the cam lobs are dow or up. but the lil dowel pin in the cam shaft always keeps the plusar and the cam in the right spot don't it? and the plusar is what makes regs the spark?

thatw as for a single cyclinder. they will only fire every other cyclinder on a 4 stroke.

it really sounds like it is 180 out of time did you get the camshaft right when you put in the new chain ?
