Hi, I just bought an '85 200X, and I have a few problems/questions. Firstly, does anybody have any tips on how to get stupid tight valve covers loose? All I've tried was soaking them, and then trying to turn them with a breaker bar. Secondly, why can't I kick this thing when sitting on it? I know that this year is known to slip, but when I think about slipping I think about how my KX125 was, it had no feel at all. The 200X has feel and it starts in one kick if I get off, face the back and kick it. This thing is a real lemon and I'll probably have more questions later, but I've wasted enough of your time already. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum!!!!

1st I recommend a manual.

Or you could put a vice grip on the head. If they get stripped you are going to have to cut them off.

As for you not being able to kick it over while you are sitting on it....
I have no idea. I am 6' 3'" and I could kick it over sitting on it. Could it have a high compression piston in it?

It has low Compression, about 90 PSI,. I figured it should be at least 120. The thing smokes like a locomotive; needs piston, rings, and probably valve seals and guides.
I dunno I got it to start once while sitting on it. When I got it the kicker was angled
too far forward so I thought I was just not getting a good bite at it.

You can't get the valve covers with a cheater bar? I've had to do that in the past. I use my 1/2" ratchet with about a 3 foot pipe over the end of the handle and I got them broke loose in no time.

I actually just bought a 200x last month that smoked like a train as well lol. It now has new valve seals and valves, cylinder bored .020 over, and a Wiseco piston. Now I just need to put it back together.

Cheater bars, one of my best friends, i find that if you slip say the round end in the handle of a large adjustable wrench over the socket and push forwardd in the direction of turning the socket wrench you can break loose any bolt, just dont let it strip or break your socket/socket wrench =]
