After many years of waiting, My county (Alpena) is finally taking into concideration that many of us want to be able to ridw atv's on thee right of way on gravel roads and on the shoulder of the paved rodes. The topic went through many meetings and is finally up for the county commisioners to vote on it today. After leaving the last meeting I am Hopeful that this will pass today! Wish us luck! The meeting is at 1pm. Hopefully be the time I post again. I will be able to (legally) go outside and jump on a trike and drive away, without having to load it and take it to a diiferent county.

Thats awesome. I am lucky enough to live down a back road, but I know how hard it can be for some to get out and ride.
you should have started a online petition and gave that to them, when a local park faced closure here I put up a online petition and spoke my thoughts concerning the park, and now its going better then ever! Good luck!

I live in Alcona County, the adjacent county to the south of Alpena. It seems that these two counties take there time doing things The counties around these two counties have already approved this bill. There is an Alcona County Board of Commisioners Meeting Wed Oct 29 at 10:00am to discuss the same thing. I will be in attendance. I think it will pass, maybe not at this meeting but soon.

I am glad to report that it passed unanimously 10 to 0. So good things really do happen:Bounce It did snow on me when I went for my first legal ride but other than that it was great. I glad I hooked the handwarmers back up!Good luck Lloyd:beer

I went to the Clare County meeting on Oct third. Clare County will be opened up in the next month or so. The thing that we all need to remember is that if you hit or get hit by a car or truck it will be your fault no matter what. Not that we have anything left, but here in Michigan we will need to be insured or it could wipe us out. The speed limit for all ATV's will be 25 mph or less, but at least we can ride them on the road now. This is also only from US 10 north and the UP. Southern Michigan will not have this new law because of the high traffic in the area.

Thats awesome news for Michigan atv riders. I just hope people will respect the new law and understand it is a HUGE PRIVELAGE to be able to do this. And not screw it up! Hopefully law enforcement comes down hard, on those people who can't obey and respect laws governing this. So this stays in effect for years to come.

Thats a different county. Depends on what they do. I would guess that that county, Oscoda, would adopt the state ordinance. Each county has to adopt the ordinance.

Was at a meeting today in my county Alcona, which is just south of Alpena county and after watching the local news, I am not very optimistic about Alcona county adopting the ordinance. Hope things change. All the counties around Alcona have adopted this ordinance.
