LOL let me get this straight, for ninety bucks total you can get your clyinder bored, and a complete piston kit for it? What is the problem, I would be burning the tires off the car getting down there. As you can see below, it's going to be hard to get a piston kit for that

$60 for a bore job...sounds good. The shop here charges $100 for a bore, piston, rings, and wrist-pin

most of the bike shops just send it out to be done. Around here, the Watkins Glen NAPA does all the machine work. The guy is really good, and reasonable. He will order you the piston kits and doesnt really mark it up at all. He charges $40 for a bore and hone.

I just paid $100 for a bore and piston kit. Sounds like a good deal.
May be time to go and get a job. I remember picking vegtables as a young lad to get my parts.
SO get a job man!

Just my suggestion, but I would call local bike shops, get a price and also find out who does their boring. Most send them out, and many deal direct with Wiseco for boring, and the bored cylinder will come back with a piston kit included for the new bore. Thats who I would use. The work is guarenteed, and I know personally that Wiseco honors their warranty. It might cost more, but you know your getting quality work done specifically to the tolernaces of their pistons. The piston and bore job come from the same place so if things go wrong, you have accountability.

Your other option is to shop around for the best price, and hope that Billy Bobs discount machine shop knows what they are doing, and knows the difference between tolerances for a cast and a forged piston. MAYBE they do. Maybe! You can also hope that if things go wrong, that Billy Bob will accpet responsibility and wont blame it on the piston, while Honda is blaming it on Billy Bob's work. There is a good possibility you may get a quality job, and save a lot of money in the process, but in the words of Clint Eastwood, "you gotta ask yourself, do I feel lucky?"

ok, that is sort of ridiculous. 60 dollars is too much in my opinion, but the shop here right in town charges the same amount. This is especially ridiculous since my buddy went to them with his 94 polaris 4x4 quad jug that he needed bored, and told them that he would bring them the new piston when it came in the next day so that it could be done properly. They promptly went ahead and bored it anyway without having the piston. This is pretty shoddy work for sixty bucks in my opinion. My friends bike ran good, but that was due to luck obviously. I agree with Tim. Talk to the shops, and see if they give a crap whether they are doing their job right or not. I've heard of places around here doing it for as low as 20, but if someone is reputable and knows their stuff, 40 or even 45 would be worth the difference. In my town, boring a bike will be as expensive or more so than for a car, since one their jig is setup for a car block they can simply duplicate the boring over and over for each cylinder, and they probably keep things setup for doing say a 350 chevy block because they do so many of them.

it cost $30 to get my cylinder bored, and all cleaned up, and set to throw the piston in, and it only takes a couple days,.....it cost $114 for a brand new wiseco piston kit, but for the dealer i always use , we are pretty good friends so i get a $15 percent discount on everything

can i send it to wiseco directly? i would sure like them do it.... but with a 10.25 piston, will i notice any advantage? and will i have to use higher octane? thanks all!

ATC crazy

You don't have to use a higher octane, but I would. For 10.25:1 I'd use 93 octane. There is a gas station down the road from here that sells the 76 brand 110 octane AT THE PUMP for $5 a gallon. I might have to check them out.
