I want to put a cb on my trike

anyone done this? i have a 200x that is used for search and rescue and need to put a CB radio on it to keep communication with the rest of the team.i have a small a cobra 18 I could mount on the tank just need to know if the twelve volt system on the bike would support it.

could be cool but the antenna could be a pain in the arse put a whip on it or something that can handle hiting branches but might hit you though :)

I have a 6ft firestick I am going to mount to the flag mount.So you guys think the stock system would handle it.It would be an extra 3 amp draw.

should work, if not try and place a battery in there somewhere a samm 12 volt battery. remember you got to have dc current and a regualtor also.

i have two cb radios. i might stick one on my atc 70 and give my mate the other one to stick on his bike lmao.

The draw for a Uniden Pro520XL is only 1.7 Amps. I think that could be done with no problem.

3A sounds rather high, I'd be thinking more along the lines of about 0.25A rx, and a max of 2A tx. Unless of course the rig has been tweeked to increase the output?
Antennas? Well, I thought a good old 'half breed' would be best. Just a bit too flexible. Glad I was wearing a helmet as I ducked under a tree branch, the whip caught the branch then smacked me across the back of the head! I went with a DV27 with a spring on the bottom. Works well.
My 'A' figures are what I'd expect for an FM unit, I wouldn't have thought AM would be too different.
Think carefully about position of the rig. If you fit it to the top of the tank (I daren't ask how you propose to do that!) any spurious electrical spark could be too close to the tank vent for comfort. Also, you'll need an earpiece to hear it under your helmet, and if you're on and off the machine then it's easier to unplug the earpiece from the ext.spk. socket each time than keep pulling it out of your helmet so access to the rear panel would be good.

My 86 200X puts out 12v AC voltage..... Im sure yours does too. I just went out and checked wit ha volt meter...

You'll need a voltage rectifier to convert AC to DC, dc regulator and a small battery to do it right.
