I was researching for info on my bike, when I came across this on Wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATC250R
"The 1986 ATC 250R was the last model year offered for sale in the United States, after an agreement between manufacturers and the Consumer Product Safety Commission to cease production on all 3-wheeled ATV's. This was the result of thousands of legal battles regarding safety issues and high accident rates. The agreement stated that production would cease for ten years, although no major manufacturer has resumed production since the ban ended in 1997."
So now, I wonder why no company ever started to make the trike again?
Most things come with a waiver of responsibility anyway.
God, can you imagine if someone started producing new high end ATC's:w00t:

yeah this topic has been discussed thoroughly threw out the years here on the boards. dont get your hopes up, it will never happen. as soon as the big three were to start production of them, the cpsc would be banning them again before the first one even rolled off the assembly line.

CPSC is currently or has stopped the production of all 3 wheelers due to China started to import them. Also now all manufactures of ATVs (China)need to comply with safety standards like the big manufactures. Thats good because some of the chinese quads I have seen or worked on I would not trust to haul trash down the driveway.

Here!, Here!
I bought one of the quads and the go karts, nothing but problems
I feel they are giving a bad name to the sport. All the people who could finally afford one, are just having nothing but nightmares:cry:

No offense to anybody who has bought those chinese things and been dissapointed, but it's no secret when the thing's $800 brand-new and you can bend the rear sprocket with your bare hand that you're getting ripped-off.

Well, in my defense, I bought this these things because I was not sure if my son was going to be into it. He is much of a book worm type. I on the other hand grew up riding, and knew I would just cut my losses if he did not like it. So the plan was to keep my losses minimum. The go kart has been great! The carb sucks and I have had some issues with the car over all. But a tweak here and a weld there, good as new. The quad, I bought for parts, but now can't seem to sell it for nothing.
The point I am trying to make, is they do have their place in the world, just not in most backyards of guys like you race heads, and Super Enthusiasts.
They are a good entry, but a throw away item for sure!
Really looks good as a birthday gift, all nice and shiny. Fires up immeadiately, and just goes. But give it a month, it will be showing it's true value.:(

They're perfect for just that- Something for the kid to tool around on for a season because he/she's just going to outgrow it anyways.
