fix brake calipers??

The brake caliper on the 84 x seems froze up? Can these be repaired at home or do they need to be taken to a shop? My Clymer does not have rebuild steps it just says to take to shop.

buy a front caliper for a honda 125 dirtbike...it's the same price as a rebuild kit usually on ebay, and it bolts right up.

is that just for the front...or the rear also?

You can rebuild them pretty easy. Just remove the parking brake set-up and push the piston out, replace the seals and reassemble.
What Goat is saying is, the front from the CR fits the rear of the X

It would definitely be worth tearing it apart, cleaning it with brake cleaner and, far out of reach of the pads and rotor, spray the piston with wd40 and see if that helps. If it was working and you lost brakes, I'd say you need a rebuild. Frozen up is usually from rust or dirt.

Don't get any WD on the seals. It makes them expand.

Or on the pads or rotor. BTW aluminum doesn't rust. Clean the piston and bore up with sand paper

I rebuild mine I use a brake caliper hone in the housing you can pick them up at most auto parts stores. As long as the piston and housing are not to corroded you can repair it. The tough part is getting the slides out. Sometimes heat helps. Once the slides are out clean the bors with a dremel and wire wheel.
