Hey,
today after riding my 84 250r I turned the gas off at the petcock. Soon after I rode the 200x and 200s and decided to take a few pics... got them all back out.
I left the 250r idleing.....and never turned on the gas.
As I came back I herd the motor redlining and I turned off the switch and it kept running full bore....
I have heard this described as Dieseling, but I do not know why it did it running out of gas..... can someone explain this to me?
When it is Dieseling WHAT DO I DO?? lol Choke it? Turn on the gas?
I turned ON the gas and it soon stopped maxing out.... but whats the proper way to do it?
Also, what should I look for now?

Ahh if you turn the gas off and let it run it will run till it's out of gas... in that process it will go lean and wind up. Next time don't shut the gas off and leave it running. Drain the carb with the pet cock on the carb.

Also what octane fuel are you using?

93 octane fuel 20:1 regular non synthetic 2 stroke oil for break in since its still new....
I accidentally left the gas off...not on purpose....
I had to turn the gas ON to get it to calm down, it wouldnt stop running for anything! I almost ran to get the plug wrench lol.... Shutting the spark off made it WORSE! It ran faster after that...
I was like FU*K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW WHAT? I thot I watched my 2 weeks and $400 gown to waste lol....

I've had that happen a couple times myself. This will sound stupid, but I found that If you open the throttle wide open It will shut off Instantly. The reason for that Is It will bombard the cylinder with so much air It cools the cylinder down quickly. The reason It was screaming Is because It was Lean. With that bad of a lean condition the piston gets so hot that It fires the cylinder and doesn't need spark.

Yeah same thing happens when you run your chainsaw out of gas. For real if you don't leave it running with the fuel off you won't have that problem.

when motors do that, stand on the brake pedal, put it in gear and let the clutch out. The motor isn't producing any torque and will stall out very quickly.

Dad had it happen to him a few times back in the day....he hopped on it and rode it out, apparently bogging the motor shuts it off.
