i want to put inverted forks on my 1985 200x

what forks should i use? i see ktm 85sx forks are popular for this on the 250rs
can i get the 200x triples honed/machined for these larger forks?
what axle would i use?
what front brake?

can i put tapered roller bearings in the neck of the 200x?

thanks for any help

Any of the 85cc motocross bike's forks should work fine for a 200x. The CR, KX, RM, & YZ all use 37mm inverted forks.

There isn't enough material on 200X tripleclamps to bore them out to accept inverted forks. You'd need to have some custom tripleclamps made.

Yes, any aftermarket steering stem bearings are the tapered roller type and come with everything you need.

You will also need to take into account that the 200X has a trailing front xle and the dirt bikes are all leading axle. When you make that change you will need to reflect that in the rake of your new triples.

If your serious about doing the swap, you had better prepare yourself for some serious fabrication or money (either will work lol). New triples will need to be made to hold the front forks, as well as an adaptor for the front hub and matching front rotor/ brake assembly from the dirt bike.

The nice thing about the swap is MUCH improved ride and handling over stock.

there is a guy on the boards who can apparently make the triples. He made them for Derrick I called him to have a set done but never heard back from him. Who else can make a set?

I could see what I can do. Let me know what sizes and what needs to be done. Could get the CNC set up here at school and turn some out.

I was interested in a set, too. try Jason Hall, he is one source who apparently can make a set of triples for them to work. I tried contacting him several times to no avail
