yep like erectordale says, 4 lug by 4 inch, on all three wheels, front and rears. the 85 thru 87 have the 4 lug x 156mm rear rims.

so just how much does spacing out the rear wheels affect the handling and what options are available?I'm looking to keep the stock wheels but unsure of how to space them out.I've seen spacers of 1.5" and to 2.5",which are most reccomended or can I fit a hub of another machine to give me more width?Does a solid spacer between the wheel and hub look ugly?

I've got 2.5 inch spacers for mine. They're great for cornering and handling in general, but cruddy in the woods. They don't look bad, actually they make the trike look better imo with the proper swingarm length. If you wanna race, I'd get the spacers. Just for a rider, I'd leave it stock and get some nice 20" tires.
