Hi, I own a honda atc 70 (pitbike engine in)
Basically if im going to go in deep mudpools theres a few things i need to ask;
first.
Stator plate, the case ill need to waterproof no?
snorkel (obvious reasons cos atc is tiny)
electrics.
exhaust?? will i need to attach a breather tube or can it actually submerge and still run?
crank breather pipe? id need to route it higher??
now with snorkel, where can i route it? i think the best place is the rear by mudgaurd?
and if anyone else knows any i havent mentioned.
Thanks guys.
Dielectric grease every electrical connection.
Silicone your CDI plate.
You can buy valves to put on your breather lines but they seem to get stopped up. i like running them to the top of my snorkel.
For the intake go to the plumbing supply store and buy a rubber coupler. Use hose clamps to attach it to the back of the carb, then use pvc on the other side and put an open element filter on top. routing will be up to you.
Exhaust snorkel, i have never done. The bike will run fine under water but if it dies. dont try to restart it. Pull it out and dump it on its back to drain the water. Might have to pull plug if the exhaust valve was opened. No biggie.
Die electric grease your spark plug boot. This is a biggie.
I am not sure why you would want to do this, but each its own. If you have a problem just throw it on your back and walk to dry land. When i was doing the whole highlifter thing water was always my favorite. I almost forgot, spray your bike with silicone spray. It will make cleanup a snap.
I have built a 200m for mudding and also a 250r. The 200m would do fine if there wasnt any ruts and just going through water. The 250r was a disaster. I love 3 wheelers but one thing the golf carts have them beat on is mudding.

Yeah trikes arn't much for mud. My ytm will take on rivers of water up the handle bars. no lie, but mud it will hi center on the frame before you get through. I love riding up the river with my ytm when the water is nice and warm. Someday the game warden will bust me and I won't have a proper life vest for my watercraft. lol
