Deepa and I grabbed 3 1985 ATC70's today from a board member. Fortunately they were all stored indoors just about there whole life and most of the parts are in excellent condition. Came with plenty of brandy new parts (not shown) - tires on aluminum rims, renthals, PRM grabs and more!! For the price we paid, we certainly weren't complaining :D Bill was a great guy to deal with and I'm sure he's glad there is no chance of a part out on these puppies.

Deepa - AKA "Mr. Rrrrrrrunit" will probably just get his running, he was already yanking on the pullstarter with a varnish filled carb just as soon as we got them home . I plan on a big bore kit, powder coating everything and installing a bunch of upgrades and goodies.

These things should be a blast on my track and I can't wait until we can have some 70 events out back. We'll have to get all the guys into this to make it fair :naughty:

Here are the pics:

hey it cant hurt.

gonna be a fun build. cheap too, looking at parts and such, and i was really happy about how cheap some of the stuff was...

88cc big bore kit, oversized valves, machined head for the valves, carb, race cam all for 300 bucks...not bad at all

I was ready to tell Mike that I'd keep the extra one aqnd then he told me Brrcuda wanted one  so he'll be getting the 3rd one. Best part is they all have great parts on them so no one gets a lemon....

Yes, these things are gonna be an absolute blast on the track, I can see the carnage already :naughty: :w00t:

think lifan 140cc....... manual clutch and all new and fresh. $375 plus shipping doesnt sound too bad especially when a 88cc is 300 dollars.

It KILLS me to ditch the stock powerplant..... I'll bet all 3 of these pups run mint! I'm in the process of verifying that as I type this.

But dollar for power, your 100% correct, I hate to ditch the stock powerplant but Lifan seems like the best bet.

Stock engine 70 races sound like a blast. Just racing 2 is fun. I cant even imagine how great racing a bunch would be.

70s are addictive most people buy one and then have to have more...you all went out and bought three right away.

COOL!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats

I just don't know if I could ride a stocker after riding a suspension 70? And you guys probably wouldn't let me and blue race the suspension 70s' either. Blue doesn't have enough hardtails for everyone yet, but, he's getting there. Bruce and I were just commenting yesterday that since I brought my Tiger up yesterday, that there have never been so many Tigers and so many suspension 70s' in one spot ever!

oh lotsa trikes are fun when they are all done...having 3 projects at a time isnt easy, especially when you can never finish one completely ever....

sweet deal on getting them both running...and its cool that clarke will make whatever color you want.

Whats not fun? I'm confused :wondering

Anyhoot, I got 2 of them running now :D Although were probably replacing the powerplants, it's nice to know they run and even stop

But, were gonna need 3 tanks - they are all shot. There is one filled with something (por 15, creme??) who knows, but I've been using it and it is poor to say the least.

Now that Mikey found em at Clarke in any color, were all set anyhow :w00t:

I'll try to get #3 running tomorrow if I have the time.

2 down and 1 to go :welcome:

The bing bong china engines are a bad idea if you really plan on gettin' after it on a backyard track. Those 85's are a good platform to start, I have an 85'ATC70 tranny in my CRF50. Even with an auto-clutch it will stomp a GPX125. I run a TB 88 race head in my CRF.

Just get a Trail Bikes 88 race head kit for 300 and change and you will be happy. I promise you. No missed shifts (landed me in the hospital once), no electrical issues, and the piece of mind knowing that some starving 11-year old didn't have to slap this POS together to feed his family. Didn't any of you guys see the Olympics?

Thats the point - beat the piss out of it and throw it away. Keep the 70 motor and build up sometime down the road for resale value of the bike.
