 Glad you said it......

Sounds like the seller bored it and doesn't understand the displacement. Better than when people say they bored it out to a 250CC :D

Anyhow! Those trikes are super super fun and have some awesome improvements over the 85 and under. I absolutely love my 86 200X :w00t:

Super reliable and a blast to ride. Parts are a bit harder to get but just buy everything you see like I do and you'll be all set

the guy im buying it from has to fix the clutch first because it slips from first into second on its own

If it changes gears on it's own, it's allot bigger problem than a clutch.

If the clutch is bad, you will feel it slip in every gear under load or you will hear and feel it slip when you use the clutch in a higher gear if your going a bit slow for that gear.

something doesn't sound right. First, IMS never made a tank for that model, a 83-85 yes. Nobdody makes aftermarket tank shrouds for a 86/87, and a 10cc big bore kit would have the sleave bored to its last bore(not good). +4 axles exist, I have one, hard to get, but out there. Show us a picture of it, the description doens't sound right. I put a 83-85 plastic tank on my 86 and it didn't look right, here.

this is a stock tank

yes, those are 83-85 super scoops on it, that picture isn't with the +4 axle on it.

i dont have any pics, but i will try to get some soon, the owner could be wrong about thw tank and shrouds. but it does have a plastic tank with small shrouds

Round frame = 8/5 or older 200X. The 86/87 has square.

Also the motor looks COMPLETELY diffeerent 83-85 vs 86-87. Checkout the pics in the previous posts nd compare them to what you are buying.

Does the 200x have 5 or 6 gears? 86/87 have 6...

Checked it out again today, turns out its an 84 with after market white maier fennders and an ims gas tank with oem shrouds but they sre angled funny coming off the tank, the guy doesnt have it ready yet so still waiting on him, and it also has alot of 87 front end parts

I don't know about Alaska but a 84 around here that runs great with all those aftermarkets and white plastics still is worth 800 bucks!

alright so i went to the guy who owns the 200x's shop and he lket me take it for a test ride and it is sweet i didnt do much just a few broadies in the snow but i am definatley buying it onece he fixs the lower end and the kickstarter. He still wants 800 dollars for it, IMS did make an aftermarket tank for the 200X and it has one, its an 84 with white maier after market plastics and an 87 headlight shroud. IT also has a cr dirtbike shifter, itp holeshot tires, 87 front end parts, rebuilt top end it only has 5 hours on it, bore kit 30cc over, and an after market front master cylindar and handle bars.heres some pics.:D

Whats the story on the extended axle? Is it the axle itself, or just wide hubs or offset rims?

It looks real good for a 1st gen 200X, what a bummer it wasn't an '86- after you've ridden the '84 for a while I hope you find an '86 to test ride.

Do they ride diferently?

Nick_R_23
11-23-2008, 11:45 PM
Yes, its almost a night and day difference between the 2. I own both and think the 86/87 is better built, but I still like the 1st gen ones a lot. I think its easier to jump and balance the 1st gen, but the 2nd gen has a better ride and has more control.

Also, could you get pics of that axle? From the ones you took, it just looks like a stock one.

It could be just the stock one, its just what the guy told me so he could be wrong
