My brothers say with the auto 185/200's it is better to keep on the throttle when shifting. I say let off as you shift. IS there a recommended way?

letting off the throttle would prolong the clutch life im sure, why put the motor under unnecessary stress? ya know

I always let off the throttle when I shift, holding it WOT while shifting is extremmly hard on the clutches and gears.

Those things don't have enough power anyhow, like Edog said Jamma that hamma! lol I always let off before I shift so it's easy on the gears but I rev up the ytm before I let the clutches engage. It goes like this(Let off, pull up to next gear, get back in the gas, and let the shifter down) Hey they put friction material on those clutch plates for a reason. Make some friction!!! lol. I usually shift like you should be letting off the gas shifting then getting back into the gas but there's those times when you just need to break the wheels loose and get her going. lol

i say once in a while hamma-jamma style is ok, but in general unless there's a reason (towing, racing) jsut let up some. as pointed out, it will help prolong the clutch life.
